Azahar Modern Tasca — Restaurant in San Juan

Absolutely disappointing experience. We waited 10mins to order at the bar, and after we placed our order with the bartender she told us that we can chill in the pool and the waiters will come with the drinks. We waited more than an hour and no one came to us. We eventually went back to the bar and asked if they had forgotten our drinks. The staff didn’t offer any explanation and simply asked what we had ordered, telling us to “wait a bit.”

We didn’t want to just leave without telling them since we thought maybe they were still working on the drinks. Big mistake. We ended up waiting another 30mins. During that time, we asked if they could deliver the drinks to our room since the wait was becoming unbearable, but one of the servers just told us to stay put.

When we finally received our drinks, they were as expected—nothing special for a hotel bar. What really soured the experience was the complete lack of apology or explanation for the delay.

It was hard not to feel uncomfortable, as it seemed like the staff were attentive to almost every other guest except us. I can’t help but wonder if it had something to do with us being the only Asian guests there.

I hope this review can be taken into consideration by both future guests and the bar’s management. While we enjoyed the sunset, this experience unfortunately ruined...

Have been here for a week trying various different dishes. Rain or shine the service staff is amazing. Have tried: chicharronnes de pescado, KFC, margarita pizza, salmon tuna tartare, pescado ajillo, beef yakitori, and pulpo. Highlights: perfectly cooked pulpo, one medium tentacle that is absolute heaven. I will get more of this. Pescado ajillo, and chicharrones de pescado, yes, more please. Perfectly cooked and balanced both in light fried and grilled formats. Beef yakitori was pretty fatty and underseasoned. Pizza is a solid choice, but nothing too special about it. Tuna tartare needs work as the tuna was extremely salty and over mayo dressed. Lacked brightness and freshness expected in tuna tartare. KFC is good, but salty but overall appetizing.

The view if eating by the water is beautiful. The gin and tonics are balanced and reasonably priced....

When I heard that Chef Atisha Pasquale took over the kitchen here, I was expecting good food, however I was not expecting to have the best roasted chicken ever! The chef roasted 1/2 chicken in a wood fired stove and served it with all it’s juices and an amazing nutty sauce! We also ordered the Seafood Paella which was amazing as well!
