I want to give this hotel more. I really do. But...
Bad: When I arrived, I was given a room with a broken AC unit.
Good: They moved me immediately into an "ocean view" room for the remainder of my stay.
Bad: The hotel has only one ice machine, and it's a trip up to the 7th floor then another floor up stairs to the 8th floor. And it was broken for the 2 weeks I stayed there.
Good: They have a rooftop patio with some comfortable seating.
Bad: There's no food, drink, water or service of any kind up there.
Good: The rooms are spacious with storage, fridge, etc.
Bad: Don't expect more than 5 minutes of hot water in your shower, even if you're sparing. At first I thought it might be my room only, but I had a coworker come stay at the hotel my second week, and he confirmed the same thing.
I occasionally like to take a bath when I travel. This would be impossible here.
They seem to only pay for one person to be on staff in the evening, and two in the morning. This means that the front desk concierge is also the bartender.
Coffee in the hotel is over $3.00! There is no coffee machine in the room, and any choices you have outside of the hotel in Miramar are extremely limited. You'll end up buying your coffee in the hotel.
IF YOU RENT A CAR: THERE ARE ONLY 4 PARKING SPACES IN THEIR "PARKING LOT" and while I was there, it was full every night. There are parking spaces out on the street if you get creative, but the day I checked in, I had to park 3 blocks away and drag my bags from there.
There was one silver lining to my stay , one of the employees. Her name was Stephanie, and she made a point to make me feel welcome every evening that I got to the hotel when she was working. We chatted about the island, she showed true hospitality. This hostess added a personal touch to my stay that was missing, and made this boutique hotel truly feel boutique.
The rest of the employees seemed preoccupied. For example, my room keys got deprogrammed I think a total of 5 times!! And they kept trying to tell me it was my fault for keeping my keys in the same pocket with my phone, which I never do. They were quick enough to recode the cards, but why would you blame the customer? I think I've had one key get deprogrammed in the last year aside from this place.
Oh, one thing I should add: The maid will clean your room even if you have the Do Not Disturb sign on your door. Apparently they have a "must clean every 48 hours" rule whether you want them to or not. No idea why they...
Read moreFirst of, I'm giving it one star because it doesn't allow me to leave zero... To start, the hotel is not in a safe area; there are countless homeless people in the surrounding area and it's location is not a good one. The hotel also mentions that it has parking available, which is NOT true; the hotel does not have parking available. The alleged parking lot is an abandoned area full of garbage, with no security, no lighting, where homeless people come and go, and you are left to park there at your own risk. They have a supposedly private parking lot with a charge of $19 per night, which DOES NOT belong to the hotel, and they claim that they only have three parking spaces available, when clearly at the time of booking it indicates that it is not necessary to reserve the parking space in advance. In our booking, we paid for a room for three adults with a maximum capacity of four. Two of the people staying have vehicles, when I requested to pay for parking space for two vehicles, they told me that only one vehicle per room is allowed at the parking lot since they only have three parking spaces available. I also like to mention that they have extremely rude and unprofessional staff. It's obvious the front desk host is immature and inexperienced in the hospitality industry. She and her reception colleague were constantly laughing and mocking us. I recommend they effectively train their staff to be professional and treat guests well. In short, you get what you pay for. If you have the budget to stay at a nicer hotel, rule this one out immediately. That said, the hotel is very clean, and the rooms are extremely clean and smell good, if you're okay with not being in a safe area with little to no parking and rude staff, then...
Read moreI can not express my appreciation to Hotel Miramar enough! My hotel room was exceptionally clean, stunning water view, had a comfortable bed but I must detail how amazing the pillows were. Beautifully displayed pillows were a variety of, soft and fluffy or supportive and firm and there were plenty of them! The shower had excellent water pressure and, the water gets hot enough to burn flesh! I spent many nights on the beautiful rooftop terrace and I enjoyed cooling down from a workout there in the early morning. The rooftop terrace has lots of space, tables, chairs and covered cabanas, the view is the best in Miramar, and probably Condado area too. The private beach was absolutely beautiful, (pictures hopefully attached to this review, @Google struggle), the beach is a perfect place to drink morning coffee. Speaking of coffee, I noticed a really nice coffee bar in the restaurant but because of Covid the restaurant was unfortunately closed. I asked the front desk about the coffee bar and they made me the BEST cup of coffee, all I had to do was ask! The hotel staff provided so much support and excellent customer service, including driving directions, translation assistance with local police (driving in PR was not easy), food orders, suggested local places that were safe to walk/run (female traveling alone) and they sent me to Hotel MIramar's private beach with beach towels! The housekeeping staff work so hard to keep it sparkling clean, they learned my routine and kept the room spotless without interruption. The on-site handyman Freddy can fix anything, great amenities including, on-site gym, laundry, parking and, the security guard always made me feel safe. I look forward to my next stay at...
