I visited this cigar bar with my boyfriend on Saturday and after leaving and while in the Uber, I realized I forgot my Gucci sunglasses on the table. We planned to go back to Old San Juan the next day to visit the fort so I planned go back there to get my sunglasses. We went back and I saw the same server and said, I forgot my Gucci sunglasses and he said yes, I put them away. He and another server started looking all over and could not find my sunglasses. I said obviously an employee stole them so he called the manager. They said they would check the cameras took my number and said they would call me if they find out from the camera who took the sunglasses. That was it, no remorse, no compensation, I left an item and the server verified that I did leave them, my $300 sunglasses gone while in their establishment and which I have had for at least 10 years are gone. I would advise anyone who patronizes this establishment to beware. It looks like a nice place, upscale, I would expect an upscale experience but, wound up being subject to thievery. I am going to file other complaints with the better business bureau because I am very disappointed. Any establishment should have a trusted lost and found for customers. It was less than 24 hours later and an employee helped themselves to my Gucci sunglasses and I have NOT been compensated. That is low and poor business...
Read moreCasa de Montecristo offers an elegant retreat for cigar enthusiasts in a well-located spot in San Juan. The ambiance is refined and comfortable - plush leather seating, sophisticated lighting, and a welcoming atmosphere that invites you to relax and unwind. The cocktail program is genuinely impressive. I tried their signature "Count of Montecristo" - a complex blend of Remy Martin 1738, Woodford Rye, Cointreau Noir, Vermouth Rosso, and their house "jail bitters" (black tea infused with Angostura and Peychaud's). This expertly crafted drink was excellent - balanced, nuanced, and a perfect complement to a good cigar. However, the cigar selection was surprisingly disappointing for an establishment with "Montecristo" in its name. The humidor featured a limited range of options, all carrying premium prices that seemed steep even by lounge standards. Most notably, there was a striking absence of local Puerto Rican cigars - a missed opportunity to showcase the island's tobacco heritage. The saving grace is their accommodating BYOC (Bring Your Own Cigar) policy. They graciously allow guests to bring their own cigars to enjoy in the lounge - a policy that significantly enhances the value proposition and demonstrates customer-friendly flexibility. Service was attentive without being intrusive, and the overall environment strikes a good balance between upscale and...
Read moreMonte Christo in Old San Juan offers an exceptional experience that caters to lovers of fine drinks and cigars. During our visit, the service was outstanding, with a waitress who went above and beyond to ensure we enjoyed our time. The drink menu was a delight, especially the Wunderlust—a citrus mezcal concoction that became my instant favorite. My cousins complemented their cigars with a selection of whiskeys and bourbons, finding perfect pairings that enhanced the experience.
The highlight of our visit was undoubtedly the cigar selection process. We were treated to an informative lesson that wasn't just about choosing cigars but also included a fascinating dive into their history. This educational moment added a special layer to our enjoyment and appreciation of the cigars we selected.
The ambiance inside Monte Christo is nothing short of stunning. The lounge's design, reminiscent of a Greek bathing garden, offers a beautiful and relaxing backdrop that perfectly complements the establishment's luxurious offerings. Whether you're a cigar aficionado or just looking to enjoy a well-crafted drink in a beautiful setting, Monte Christo in Old San Juan is a destination that promises and delivers an...
