Gingambó — Restaurant in San Juan

My review is based on having breakfast here 6 mornings in a row. Breakfast is buffet style and costs around $32 per person in 2022 December but vouchers are provided for Elite members for each day of stay.

The host will take down your last name and let you pick between inside or outside. Outside is scenic and some tables have a view of the beach. Be warned the birds are intelligent and will attempt to eat your food and have sips of your drinks. So you may end up constantly defending your breakfast from the wildlife.

There is a pastry station with bagels, breads, danishes and even gluten free options. A cold cut/cheese station had brie, cheddar, swiss, roast beef, turkey, smoked salmon and salami. Another station had waffles, pancakes, croissants, French toast and honey ham. The omelet station had a chef preparing made to order eggs. Then there was a section with oatmeal, scrambled eggs, sausages and bacon. The fruit station had cut water melon, cantaloupe, honeydew and grapes. The juice station had green juice, watermelon juice, grapefruit juice, pineapple juice and water melon juice. These are just some of the things they had. Mixed experiences. The service and food at night was excellent and they did a great job catering to my medical/vegan dietary restrictions. However, the breakfast service is about one of the worst I’ve ever experienced. Very disorganized, servers are difficult to flag down, and when you do get one, spilling coffee and water over your shoulder trying to go too quickly. Only vegan options are toast and oily potatoes and the entire hotel makes the oatmeal with milk and butter (and were unable to make me some with water). We tried to have them give me a spinach stir fry with no oil from the omelette station (not a problem most places) but even when they tried it was horrible. Once it was loaded with oil, once they gave me raw mushrooms on the side, and when they did do it right once, it was about 3 tablespoons worth of veggies. You can't beat the view to begin with, if you sit outside. You're literally looking at the beach which makes for a relaxing time while you're on your phone waiting for your food to arrive.

The food menu is good bar food, we had the burger and the pulled pork sandwiches. The burger was thick and juicy with a bit too much salt. The pulled pork with melted cheese was good too, again with a bit too much salt.

The service was good but they must have been busy because it took nearly 10 minutes from sitting down to being greeted. But from that point on it was ok.

Price is what you'd expect from a resort, for two people with two alcoholic...
