My recent stay at the Casa Del Caribe was good. This was my first time staying at a guesthouse, and I was pleasantly surprised by the warm hospitality I received and the relaxing atmosphere it boasted. Staffing was hit-or-miss. Most days, there was not an employee prior to two o’clock. This does pose a challenge for arriving guests or those that need assistance during their stay. Even though staff was not physically there, they were only one telephone call away and were happy to assist. I was pleasantly surprised by the well-kept manner of the grounds and exterior courtyard. It was an inviting environment and relaxing to lounge in. Most of the rooms are located in a single story house. Upon entering, I was happy to see it was clean and well-kept. I stayed in room four for the six days I was here. The room was satisfactory. The bed was very comfortable, the air conditioning worked well, and the smart television was a nice added amenity. There were, however, some downsides to the room. The paint job was poor. I’m not really sure why the room was painted in three different colors. Whoever completed the paint job was not careful, as dried paint stained the hardwood floors and bed skirt. The water pressure in the bathroom was poor. The water was never hot, only tolerably warm. The bathroom door had clearly endured water damage, with peeling paint on the bottom. It was also clear there had been water damage at times, as ceiling panels were stained. During my stay, the internet was unreliable, and power was intermittent. Sometimes, the lights would flicker. While the bed itself was comfortable and sheets were clean, the comforter had cigarette burns in it. I presume these are from a while ago, since the entire property is nonsmoking and there are very stringent policies in place. It is also important to mention that there is no daily housekeeping, however, fresh towels are available when a receptionist is on duty. One night, towards the end of my stay, a housekeeper did service my room and did a wonderful job. While there were some negatives, the hospitality I received, location, and access to beautiful sister properties boasting an elegant hot tub and pool more than made up for them. I would consider staying here in the future, but would probably pay a little more to stay at one of the aforementioned sister properties. Thank you to Eddy and the entire staff for making me feel welcome and at home during my time in...
Read moreI stayed here from Oct 19 through the 23rd 2022. Make sure that you look at the special check in instructions on expedia. They are absolutely correct. 4-8 PM at the gate push the bottom button and they will let you in. If no one is there then go toward the Mariot, take a right by the treasures store half way down that block cross the street and someone at the Canario will help you. That is also where you get ice as of this posting. They are re-establishing after the pandemic and getting staffed. Some one just started while I was there. This place feels like a local home. So, there is no bar but they do put out coffee in the morning. Everything was clean and I got room service every two days. The rooms are clean, bed was great, window AC units will run and you will hear them.....sings me to sleep....Flat screen TV with remote. The rooms are not like not as nice as the pictures you see on expedia but they are fine. No windows to see outside, and there are curved metal shades that close acting as the window. Not completely sealed and you will hear some traffic or conversations....I did as my room was by the front desk which for now is in the covered outdoor porch area. You may also hear your neighbors but not problematic. The people that are there that help out are amazing. Eddy was fantastic.....Calling them before arriving was kind of problematic.....the best thing to do about your trip is email them. I never waited longer than 20 min to hear back. They even called me and emailed me on my travel day to check on my reservation. I would not hesitate to stay there again. Walk to the treasures store and take a right and there is XO Asian, a couple bars, a beauty place and small fresh market store. Go left and you have local bars. Keep going and there is a CVS and Walgreens. Go right at the CVS and one more block and you are at the ocean on Condado beach. I would not hesitate to stay here again.. Thanks Eddy and Casa Del...
Read moreThis is the worst Inn in San Juan I have ever stayed for a night. First we were provided a room 210 in the street level next to the laundry, it had no working light which kept flashing, the bathroom had no door, just two curtains separating the toilet seat and the shower stall. We asked for a room change, the guy at the counter could not speak English, it was his first day at work here in 57 Caribe Inn, Condado, San Juan. After a little screaming from us the front guy agreed to give us a room. We waited for one hour before we were shifted to the new room 201. Surprisingly everything worked well, my wife waited outside the room making sure it was cleaned properly. Then the toilet flush stopped working, it ran the entire time. I looked inside the tank and someone had left a bag that was trapped between the outlet and the flap valve. I called the front desk but no one answered . Then There was no hot water in the shower. We ran the water today morning for more than an hour, still it ran cold. We called the front desk there was no one to answer the call. Last night same thing happened. This is the worst managed Inn In San Juan. They charge you $100 /night for such clumsy and lousy service. Puerto Rico Hospitality Association should revoke their license. No one should come here and we demanded the concierge to refund our money. She would not listen cut my phone and did not pick it up three times after I called back again. The owner should note this is not where we will stop. We will see that you do not indulge in such bad behavior towards your customers again. We have prepaid for this room and demand that our rental fee be refunded completely. If you have any questions give me a personal call. You know who we are as we were here for one night on 12/18/21, checking out today at 11:0 am 12/19/21 and you know which room Carlos at the front desk made us run around fir two long...
