It’s a pleasure to write this review in hopes of countering some of the negative reviews.
This place is fairly new and I hadn’t realized as I’d seen the building for several months. Anyways I visited pretty close to closing and I was one of three guests.
I ordered the shrimp risotto and wagyu sliders. I was VERY pleased with the risotto as it was actual risotto and not just plain rice in sauce. I thought the risotto rice was cooked perfectly, the sauce was well flavored and seasoned and the shrimp cooked just right. My only complaint is I wish I had room for more to eat more or that they add a little truffle powder in the sauce.
The wagyu sliders were good and juicy. I loved the guava sauce it came with really delicious. I had to order more. I generally like my beef a little more seasoned or if they’d garnished it with something more savory…a pickle, bacon, something i think it would be better BUT the flavor, texture and proportion was all good.
I also had a drink that i think had passion fruit…it was strong and came out fast so no complaints.
I’d def return and def get the risotto again. So take the negative reviews with a grain a salt and...
Read moreWe were truly looking forward to eating here because of the previous reviews and the atmosphere of the restaurant. It’s a beautiful space that has been appointed very nicely. However our experience was incredibly poor. We came on a Sunday afternoon and we waited for 20 minutes just for our cocktails, that tasted just like juice. The food took almost an hour and half to arrive and was cold and flavorless and portions were very small for the price. For example a calamari appetizer was $15 for a measly 8 pieces. At one point our server went outside so we asked the nearest floor staff if she could help us with some wine. The floor staff went and said something to our server that caused her to make a face and then came back to our table to ask what we needed, in an unprofessional manner. When I spoke to the manager and explained how unsatisfied we were with our food, and service, he apologized and said he would “make it right.” Making it right, was asking us if we wanted dessert after we paid. I rarely write reviews and our family is very easy going, but this was completely unacceptable. There are way nicer restaurants in the area. Don’t...
Read moreWe went here on our last night after a recommendation from the bartender at our hotel. Wish we’d known about this sooner! We wouldn’t hesitate to return. The food was delicious, priced right for the quality, and our server, Brian, was exceptional. The mofongo with shrimp and criollo sauce was the best mofongo I’d had all week. The three kids had top notch meals from the kids menu, not just lame kids’ food common in many restaurants. I wish we could go back and try more of their seafood.
I think everyone needs to remember that Puerto Rico, like other tropical islands and places, runs on “island time” and everything takes a bit longer. Slow down, be present, enjoy this gem of a restaurant. We’ll be back on our next vacation! (Don’t be surprised by stray cats in the outdoor dining area - it’s the norm in PR). I decided only 4/5 for atmosphere because it’s off the beaten path in a light industrial area adjacent to the highway - not a big deal, but it’s not like dining on the...
