Stopped in this place in between meeting clients. It caught my eye as I was driving down E 14th. I'm always down for a good Cheesesteak.
This place is nice and small, about five 4 tops. The place smells of meat and onions, not bad at all. All but one table was taken and there were people waiting for orders to go. The phone kept ring for pick up orders, so that's a good sign.
The food comes out rather quickly. The sandwich comes with hot crispy fries. They use a nice sourdough roll which was really good. I actually do prefer the Amoroso's rolls for a steak sandwich but this was good too. They also use a nice provolone cheese which I like but I think there should be a Cheez Whiz option too, I got the sandwich with mushrooms and bells.
It all went together very nicely but there was just a little something missing in flavor. It was a little bland for having that much going on.
The service was great, very friendly. Looks like a husband and wife team. The wife takes the orders at the counter and the husband cooks it all up.
I'll probably go back and give another steak...
Read moreSandwich was just ok, not great but not horrible either. Owners are very cheap as they charge extra for everything. 25 cents for ranch, 50 cents for BBQ sauce on your sandwich, and an extra 4 dollars for veggies on your cheese steak. Since it was so expensive I decided to just go with water. When I asked for a glass of water they told me that they don't do that there. Really? When have you ever heard of a restaurant that won't give you water? The only option was to buy either a bottle of water or a can of soda, both of which are 1.75. If you're not going to serve water the least you can do is provide a complimentary bottle of water for the people dining in. Went with the soda since I'd have to pay the same for water. When all was said and done the bill was a little over 17 bucks. Not worth it for a mediocre sandwich and a drink that I shouldn't have had to purchase. Highly recommend trying someplace else. Charging extra for every little thing is ridiculous, especially water for...
Read moreThe food is good as long as you eat it while it's hot, otherwise is not as tasty. The fries that come with the order are like eating high school fries back in the day. So, I suggest to swap it for the curly or sweet potato fries they might be a better option. I tried the Philly Delux (#5) Cheese Steak sandwich which is good but I found a few minus that took away fom being fully satisfied with food. The amont of meat in the sandwich is lacking, this is noticeable when peeling back the layer of cheese. The bread is good but I felt it was too much bread but than again, I noticed it helped soak up the oil from the meat. I have also tried to the West Coast(#2), with chicken thigh, I found a lot better tasting than expected. This place has been around a long time and I noticed they have raised their prices and expanded their menu as well. Bottom line, if u feel like philly and want to support a local business...
