I ordered 3 things from here off of door dash. No issues with door dash as my order came fast. Yet, my grilled steak plate was room temperature and the steak was watery. The steak I assume was "grilled" on a flat top, I perfer an actual grill with some char flavor. This steak did not taste good, I'm unsure what spices they put on it but salt pepper and garlic would have been 10x better than what they put on it. The beans were good. The potatoes were so bland and looked as if they were frozen and then microwaved. Their potatoes came cold and i'd give them a negative rating if i could. The eggs were okay but they were also cold. The chicken enchiladas were disappointing, they were somewhat flavorful but kinda salty and still there was something missing. Enchiladas came slightly warm. Their salsa is good and tastes like taco cabanas salsa which I really liked. Over all I gave them a one star, but I'm sure if I would have dined in, they would have gotten at least 2 stars. If they can read this post, I really hope they would take in consideration the people's complaints and change some things around. I'd like to see improvements in the food itself because that's what people are spending their money on. The staff are probably amazing, but if the food isn't good, people are gonna stop ordering and the business will not make it. If I could improve this place myself, I'd say to actually grill the steak and maybe season with montreal steak seasoning, hand cut potatoes and fry them, keep food hot until ready for pick up or serving. People will wait an extra 5 minutes if that means their food will be fresh hot. Serve the enchiladas with sour cream or shredded Oaxaca cheese or something to take away a bit of the saltiness. I also got coffee, it was warm and not very strong. For me that was a good thing as I can't handle strong coffee, makes my anxiety rise. I should have ordered decaf or something else. But anyway, it's just simple. People eat daily and if they choose you, then you need to satisfy their bellies and tastebuds....
Read moreHad a vegetarian visitor in town that wanted old fashioned biscuits & gravy for breakfast. Called ahead, yes it’s on the menu, yes there are plenty. Second call - forgot to ask about meat in the gravy - nope, not unless you want it that way. Go straight there & immediately order two orders. 20 mins later still waiting for the order. Watch two guys wait about 20 mins for a small to go sack. Couple of mins later they are back - wrong order. My friend walks to the car & overhears an older couple complaining about how long it’s been for their order. 10 more mins & the guys are still waiting for their corrected order. 35 mins into it we are asking about our order. Waitress says, “To tell you the truth the biscuits are as hard as rocks. I don’t recommend them.” I ask to speak to the manager & she says she is the manager. Hmm. She never says she’s sorry or she will accommodate another way. 2 phone calls & 35 minutes & numerous dissatisfied customers & a manager that doesn’t care. Never going back & will voice my dissatisfaction to anyone who ever mentions that place. Yeah, wish I could...
Read moreMaybe my expectations were too high but there are some really good cafes/diners in Central Texas. However, I think the food in the cafeteria at Texas State would probably be better. The bright side was that our server was really good and she had several tables.
I knew it wasn't going to be great when my wife asked about the biscuits and the server said they come frozen and they "bake" them.
I got the chicken fried steak and eggs with home fries. They chicken fried steak was tiny and that was probably a good thing. It tasted like it was straight out of the freezer section at the grocery store. My eggs were supposed to be over medium and they were quite well done. The home fries made up for this error though as they looked as though they may have been still a little frozen because they were so under cooked and yet extremely dry.
The cream gravy was the best part of the whole meal. My wife got an omelet that at least looked decent but somehow it was not great either. We agreed we...
