We were leaving the outlet mall in 3 separate vehicles. Depending on how you exit, your group will get there at various times, but in a 5-10 minute window of each other. I called to get on the waitlist for 12 guest. They said they’d put us at the top & everyone must be present to be seated. I agreed telling them we were driving separately. We arrived first, just my husband and I. I let them know we were here and our other crew would be arriving in 5-10 minutes. Various hosts come up to the stand. One set was told you’d have a party of 12 & they looked back behind them in a very sassy way to note there is not 12 ppl present. Laughing. 5 minutes goes by 5 of our guest arrive and then 3 more minutes and the other 5 of our guest arrived. Just like I noted. They did have another set of tables for us prepared so the wait was not too long. We were given to 2 other servers as thankfully the other waitresses went with another party. The problem was one was attentive and the other was not. We were even joking “our half” of the table gets drinks, rolls, etc. Not sure a 2 server system for a party really flows well. I have worked in the restaurant industry and we never did this. Also our tickets had to be paid separately, even though one person was paying. We also got various plates. My brother & I sat beside each other, both getting a 8oz sirloin steak. The food runner said here is the 8oz with loaded sweet potato & here is the 6oz with french fries. The sizing was obviously off. We sent the plate back to receive a 8oz steak. The manager was extremely rude, brought the same plate back, & began to argue the steak was 8oz. If I had a scale in my pocket, the piece of sirloin most likely didn’t even meet the 6oz mark. Based off my steak they were obviously way off too off basic comparison of sizing. He stated the food runners don’t know sizing even though he stated it was 6oz. It really didn’t have to be an issue. Makes sense now why some of the staff were so unprofessional based off their leaders actions. They ended up not giving my brother another steak and charging him for a 6oz. He never received what he asked for though. The flavor was there, the freshness as well. I’d just try a different establishment who...

I don't know if I'm doing this right but I wanted to add a review.
I went there again on Saturday, college football day and had lunch and watched several games on the flat screen TVs at the bar. The staff is great, and the food incredible. First time I went there I had the catfish and it was awesome. This time I had the Chicken/Country Fried Steak. Wow!
It is a steakhouse, so I guess they take cfs and put it on a grill for a few minutes before they hand batter it and fry it, because the taste was incredible - mild smokey taste. And I only had to use my Fork to cut it, I did not need to use a knife - it was that tender. The green beans are incredible, and I had mashed potatoes and you could tell that it was an actual potato that had ben hand mashed with some sour cream added to it. The staff remembered my first name, made sure that my glass of water was always full, the place was so busy that they were buzzing around but always checking on me. When they saw that I had slowed down and stopped eating about halfway through my meal, magically a to-go box appeared next to me.
The prices are great! My meal was $12 and I only ate half so 2 meals for me. The day before I went to Whataburger for a meal deal and paid $9 for a burger, fries, and a soda I didn't even want. They offered me bread which I took home with me in the to-go box and also gave me this bag of peanuts that I could eat at the bar or take home. I think I have posted a picture of the bag of peanuts, but if I had gone to a 7-Eleven and bought these peanuts they would have charged me at least $3. What a wonderful place - this is my new go-to place to eat in San Marcos!
Update: 3rd trip. Each time a different staff at the no-wait bar top seating area (seems they are so popular that group seating at a table requires a wait but I dine alone and grab a seat at the bar). Water glass always full, called me by my first name, outstanding service and grub! Make the drive to this place! Great price and again I had to get a to-go box so another meal...
Read moreThis is a happening place to eat . When we arrived we noticed they were packed , with college students and their families , luckily we checked in online and the wait time looked like it was going to be long but we didn't have to wait long at all . We were seated within 5 min of arrival. Our hostess was courteous , she explained they keep pretty busy. Our servers name was Jack I believe , he was quick with our drinks and on top of his section. We ordered 2 favorites , fried catfish and chicken fried steak . While we waited for our food , Jack suggested a margarita perhaps ,I said sure why not? It was on the rocks and it was a pretty big margarita , original. Could of used a little more tequila but other than that I was pleased w my selection. Jack kept bringing out hot rolls w their signature cinnamon butter I absolutely love ! My catfish was crispy and flaky , w a loaded baked potatoe, baked to perfection . My boyfriends chicken fried steak was smothered w white country gravy, I did not taste it but he said it was acceptable , he is a picky eater. A manager briefly was walking the tables asking if we were taken care of , .as chaotic the restaurant was becuz it was jammed packed! Im impressed how smooth and professional the entire place was operating, my hats off to management . I recommend this restaurant and I'm not big on chains but I happen to know they make their own cinnamon butter, salad dressing , the ranch is delicious and they make their own tartar sauce , that's the only thing I would change . I think they make it with a sweet relish or sweet pickles, and I'm not a fan of sweet relish or sweet pickles . I prefer dill , I would suggest ordering a side of their ranch to accompany the fried catfish as opposed to their tartar , that's my opinion . It's hard to find a good chain these days , I would say the Texas Roadhouse in San Marcos is an exception to this theory. I liked it and I'm definitely...
