California Fish Grill — Restaurant in San Mateo

I’ve been coming to have dinner to this place since they opened. Order catering for my branch and for myself. Last week I ordered the coconut shrimps and they try to slide a micro shrimp in my plate. Comes with 2 and both should have a similar size but this time one was a normal one and the other one was super small. I asked the personnel for 2 at a similar size and they did it. Tonight same situation with one of the shrimps super small compared to the other one. I asked again for 2 with the similar size and the manager Jorge refused to do it because according to him they come in different sizes. I had restaurants before and that’s an issue with your vendor your customers are not the one suffering or paying for the lack of quality standards in the selections of the product. Don’t come to this place looks like they are trying to save money sacrificing the quality and the customer service. I won’t come back again and let everyone...

Hard to give a good review because GrubHub took 40 minutes after they picked up the food to deliver it. Everything is seemed okay as far as flavor profiles and I'm sure had it not been soggy and wet and cold I probably would have been a better experience.

The actual reason I'm deducting two stars is because when you order fish and chips it should always come with tartar sauce no matter what. But they seem to have some backwards policy where you actually have to ask for it. I assume it's because maybe like 10% of their customers don't want it so in an effort to save $3 a day per store location they make everybody ask for it and GrubHub doesn't have a way to order it because it's such a no-brainer condiment with fish and chips. Otherwise I'm sure it's a pretty good place cuz the prices are cheap enough which probably won't last for long once they catch on to the fact that everything's twice as expensive here in Silicon...

First time there, and the service is so bad. The server Mancera taking the order she's so rude. She didn't give me a chance to get the orders and she's like in a rush or something like she doesn't want to do it. We ordered 2 fish & chip...and we asked her can we substitute fries to rice...instead of saying NO... she said YES..so when I look at the receipt she charging me 2.75 ... I don't really care about 2.75 but I thought sub is mean instead of fries I get the rice. But if she's charging me for it..I could of leave it as is and still have the fries..and just get the rice as a side dish. Such a poor customer service. Never again go there. And the layout of the store are so bad.. inside doesn't have that much table to sit and it small and stuffy.. but outside are so spaces and lots of table. What if on raining day or winter time who going to...
