Firstly, I'd like to acknowledge the fact that we're still going through a pandemic and running a business must pose incredible challenges. My intention with this review is to share constructive feedback with the intention of bringing issues to your attention since I do not feel comfortable sharing them when I'm at Slices about to eat.
I had food from this place three times in total. The first was during the inauguration. Another during the weekend and today during the lunch time.
The pizza has a nice taste. The dough is fluffy and has a crunchy base. At least in my experience there are never too many options in terms of pizzas.
The main issue this particular Slices experiences is the poor service. I'm not here to bash anyone in particular however it feels like they are still operating the place like during their inauguration.
My main concerns are regarding efficiency and hygiene. From an efficiency standpoint, it feels like you're either not asking the right questions at the right time to the customer (for example having my pizzas handed in a tray when I wanted a to go box) or having the employee with a pizza tray calling out pizza names (instead a customer name like every coffee shop does or a number like other businesses do) to get their warmed up pizzas. In situations like this, I see employees talking to each other trying to understand who was the customer. These problems have been solved by many other businesses and using a solution that works for you would make the experience a lot better.
With regards to hygiene, which is a hot topic right now, I honestly don't understand why the trays used to heat up the pizza slices are so narrow that an employee has to touch my pizza with their thumb. Was this overlooked as a problem? If not, can't the employee use a glove? This seems pretty basic in a time where these issues are revisited and dealt with to adapt. Yet, this has been happening (or barely happening). When waiting for my turn, when I see an employee handling a tray to put in the oven and their thumb almost touches the pizza, I force myself to look away and erase that picture from my mind. Seriously, take a look into this.
To finalize, I try to support local businesses as much as I can although I don't eat out frequently. My experience with Slices will keep me away from visiting again however I wish you success.
Maybe I just got unlucky and dealt with too many coincidences, still, hope the...
Read moreAbsolutely disgusting. The garlic knots smelled spoiled..literally rotten. They were solid hard, but not burnt- therefore they were likely stale, and I imagine that the butter on them spoiled, creating this disgusting, lingering smell. It even left a rotten odor on my hands.
I am so disappointed as I love this area for its eateries and atmosphere, But this was insanely unacceptable. I ordered a medium vegan pizza and did not mind that there were no official options for substitutions,( I accepted it bc i thought it was possibly gourmet.)
Unfortunately I was wrong. It is not gourmet and the flavor was completely bland. After experiencing the knots, I suspect they loaded the pizza with cheese to hide the possibly expired/old and flavorless ingredients.
Despite my pizza being covered with vegetables, it had zero flavor.... Not even the red sauce had flavor.
I don't know whats going on, and if they hadn't closed by the time I tasted my pizza and garlic knots at home, i'd have returned and demanded a refund, Bc rotten food is more than concerning. I'm still in shock about this quality and experience.
Legitimately rotten food....
Read moreI don’t like writing negative reviews during the pandemic but experienced terrible and rude service for mediocre and expensive pizza. I wanted to support a local shop instead of ordering delivery from one of the big chains, but I regretted it, unfortunately. I got an angry phone call from a worker for being “late” to pick up my pizza. I was not late, they just sent me an email saying to pick it up later than when I specified online. The person on the phone kept insisting I was late even when I said we were walking there as she yelled at me and would be there in literally two minutes. The pizza wasn’t anything special and I couldn’t believe how...
