This review is solely based on service as a person with a table of POC being waited on by a white woman.
The food was great. The drinks were also great.
I have never felt so blatantly ignored at a place in my life besides when I was a young teenager, wearing ripped jeans, skate shoes, and metal tshirts at nicer restaurants.
I have matured a lot since those days.
We had a table of people of color, and our waiter, a non-POC, clearly was favoring other non-POC tables over ours. She went and filled their water cups 2 times and made small talk with them for extended times before taking our appetizer order, another 3 times before circling back AFTER I WAVED HER DOWN to place our entree order, then another 4 times before she checked on us once, when we were all done with our entrees. Never once filled our water cups. The server who brought the food from the kitchen, and hardly spoke English, checked on us more between bringing food to other tables before our own waitress checked on us.
Note: it was a Friday night, but it didn't seem overly busy. The waitress had plenty of time to chit chat with other tables and pour their...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy girlfriend and I decided to try this new spot since we had a pleasant experience at the other location in Corte Madera. The interior/ambience was nice, the food was not terrible but not great either, but their rice was some of the worst I've had, it just tasted like some bland minute rice. The worst thing for us was the service it took them about 15 minutes for them to come and take our order, despite it not being busy probably 20% capacity and even then the waiter wasn't sure if we had been helped, I noticed that a white family of 8 showed up 10 minutes after us and they had their orders taken first and throughout our time there other parties were seated near us and got attended as soon as they got sat down maybe it was bad timing when we showed up, but it definitely did not feel that way. I asked the waiter if we could move tables since it felt like we got pushed to the corner, he said would check for us but never followed up and when it came time to pay I didn't leave them a tip since I felt their service was not worthy of one and he gave me a are you serious look. Never coming back much rather go to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWent in with high expectations of the place given the looks of the restaurant. Went to celebrate a special occasion. For food, it is a 1 star because of the two plates we ordered non tasted like the authentic Mexican food. One of the dishes were chorizo flautas and they tasted nothing like chorizo, they had a sweet taste to them from the potatoes (similar to sweet potatoes) and strong spice cotrast that just made each bite confusing. The true traditional authentic mexican flautas are nowhere presented or served how they serve them here. The staff needs to work on customer service, we shared the feedback with them, and they didn't seem too happy about the feedback. The atmosphere is nice to go eat, but if they lowered the volume just a bit more, people would be able to hear the person of them talking. I give the 1 star because compared to many other mexican restaurants in the area, it felt like eating Chipotle food/ Taco Bell and calling it self authentic mexican food. Was also offered prickly pear fresh water and was expecting natural made water. Felt like just syrup and sparkling water...
