I rarely write reviews, but my experience at the Hillsdale, CA Williams Sonoma was egregiously unacceptable and this was the final straw that compelled me to write one. An associate named Gigi has repeatedly demonstrated snobbish, dismissive, and classist behavior during both in-person visits and phone calls.
On Saturday, August 30, 2025, Gigi answered and immediately sounded agitated, dismissive, and condescending about my questions regarding the product and the store’s return policy. Her tone was so demeaning that it felt deliberately designed to make me feel unwelcome and inferior. She hung up on me twice, preventing me from completing my inquiry. On the third call, I was placed on hold and then informed she would not take my call, citing being “busy with another customer” at which point I had to specifically request to speak with the assistant store manager, Christian.
It’s important to note that this is not an isolated incident. On multiple in-person visits, Gigi has demonstrated the same snobbish, dismissive, and classist attitude toward me and my family; making us feel like we are a nuisance for walking into the store. Her behavior suggests that she chooses which customers deserve respect and which do not, based on her personal biases.
I am fully aware of my rights under federal and California anti-discrimination laws, which protect me from harassment, bias, or discriminatory conduct in commercial settings. Tolerating this level of toxic behavior exposes Williams Sonoma to serious legal liability and undermines the company’s promise of a safe, professional, and respectful customer experience. Immediate corrective action is legally and ethically required.
This store associate’s repeated conduct demonstrates a pattern of toxicity that reflects poor hiring oversight and threatens Williams Sonoma’s reputation. If you value competence, courtesy, and professionalism, avoid interacting with this associate. Williams Sonoma must recognize that allowing this behavior is unacceptable and...
Read moreI am so upset right now. Today I purchased $114 at the Williams-Sonoma store in Palo Alto, Stanford shopping Center. I purchased spice chestnut hand lotion and hand soap, along with two $9.95 dispensers pumps. Got home, the dispensers did not fit. The only thing that I did wrong was when I purchased all these items, I clicked OK too fast when my email address showed up. After I clicked OK I realized it was wrong off by one letter. When I try to return the two pumps at the Hillsdale Mall store, because they couldn’t find my receipt in the system, they did not refund me the $20 for the two pumps. I have to give the sales girl some credit she did try to find my purchase, but in the end she just asked me for the email address that was wrong. I don’t feel it was my fault that the email address is wrong in the system. And she should’ve refunded me my money for the items that I just brought back. I am so upset and I left the items there at the store because I have no use for them. The sales person should’ve also mentioned when I purchased it at those tops did not fit. This whole experience was very...
