Blue Bottle Coffee — Restaurant in San Mateo

Not a fan of the new coffee shop rules implemented by the new manager John DeGuzman, as result today my barista informed in my Nola iced coffee burlee with oat milk- no longer being available at this location (but I can order it at other blue bottles which makes no sense) The barrista informed me after I ordered it and she was making my drink that she couldn’t make it for me as she was making it. I didn’t know what to say other than I guess to cancel my order. I ask the other employee working why I couldn’t have the same drink I’ve been ordering for years isn’t an option anymore. (Since June of this year intermittently employees will not want to make my drink bc they are told they can’t). I considered myself a regular since I frequenting this store daily since they opened and it across the street in my neighborhood.

If I am made to feel this uncomfortable I can’t see how others don’t feel the same or worse. Not what you expect from a coffee shop at all. Do not recommend coming here especially if it’s...

UPDATE: I gave Blue Bottle a second chance at the Berkeley location and had a better experience. The barista was friendly and made a great double espresso (single origin this time). However, the negative experience I had in San Mateo is enough to keep me from coming back to that location. (See below)

Ordered a double shot espresso and received a single shot. When I asked if it was a single, the barista insisted it was a double. Hayes Valley was not very exciting and expensive! This place could be a great shop to sit down and get some work done. Everything was clean and proper, but the atmosphere coming from the staff and other customers on a weekday morning didn't invite me...

I ordered their Yuzu Lavender Latte with almond milk and had another disappointment with Blue Bottle. It’s not highlighting the flavors for any of them and definitely not worth $9. Maybe the almond milk is throwing off the flavors? If that’s the case, would love for the staff to call it out.

My first disappointment was when I ordered their cold brew, only to realize they pulled out the same product you can buy at Costco - but they charged double since they opened it and gave you cups and ice.

The place is also not the cleanest. Overall, doesn’t seem like it offers anything...
