I'll start off by saying, I love Peet's Coffee as a chain. Their cold brew is my favorite, and if I have a choice of where to get coffee, it will be here.
That being said, there is something wrong with this location. I don't know if it's poor management, short-staffing, poor training, or a combination of all of them, but my order is wrong here nearly every time. Twice, I have ordered a black drip coffee, and the coffee was so light that I could see to the bottom of the cup. The first time, I was fortunate enough to catch it before I left. The second time, I was in a rush and didn't notice until I was already driving. I had to stop in Castro Valley, where the barista happily replaced my coffee and showed her co-worker how bad it was.
I am not the only one who has had these issues. My wife once ordered a cold brew with two pumps of their peppermint syrup. She was given a watery cold brew with no peppermint. When my wife asked for a new drink that matched her order, she was given a cold brew with one pump of peppermint syrup but no ice. She handed the drink back and asked for another pump of extra syrup, which was provided. She handed back the drink a third time and asked for ice, at which point the barista visibly rolled her eyes. I understand the frustration of having a drink returned three times, however, if it was made right the first time it would not have been sent back.
Other order mishaps have been pouring the wrong drip coffee (Major Dickason blend instead of the Holiday blend), giving a Bacon Frittata instead of a Bacon Brioche, and overall poor customer service.
The purpose of this review is not to be angry. I simply want Peet's to know of these issues at this chain in order for them to be resolved. I hope in the near future I can change this review. In the meantime, I will be driving to the Crow...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreSharing is...great coffee and LOOSE Leaf Tea is better than old bags...did YOU know Alred Pete's men taught the Sbux originators HOW TO Roast beans??? They all three worked in the original Berkeley store 1st!...Howard and friends. So...Great Roasting comes from the Alameda Roasting facilities and reaches your local Peers in great condition and awaiting home brewers or on the go cupped. Mighty Leaf one of the top ten U.S. wide top 4 in NorCal(Marin Co. SAN RAFAEL), adds flavour to all Pete's in addition to their own Tea Master in Alameda! Russian Caravan is back! My fave Snow White (Leopard) LOOSE Leaf. Wait for it, and you'll really enjoy classic Berk Coffee since 62' for your palate. Yes I am a Peetnik. But I go to Phil's (W/C locale), Blue Bottle and many more. This location is just as busy as the Dublin store. Did you know Peers has more in San Ramon than 3rd st. ? Great baristas here. Mgmt gets on the bar sometimes. Better line setup than other locations. Also patio is great position up...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreA hard call for me to give three or four stars for this place but since it's my preferred Peet's in the area I'll go with four for now. The staff here can be a bit grumpy at times and many of them seem to not see you waiting in line if you come in and they weren't already helping people. Quite a few times I've come here to have the folks working away and only when someone came out from the back did I get service. It's almost like "oh, there's someone here!" The staff doesn't rank as nearly highly as the those in the Tassajara location of Dublin.
The biggest plus of this location is the amount of indoor and outdoor seating with both bench and table options. Even on busy days you can usually find a place to sit. The coffee here is what I expect from Peet's. Good drip and a medium to good cappuccino. They are good at getting orders out once they've taken them though, that's another good point...
