I don't mind paying for overpriced, mediocre tasting pizza but the one thing I cannot stand is bad customer service.

At about 7pm on August 23, 2023, I ordered takeout: one fennel sausage pizza and a beet salad. The hostess was very curt and did not seem to want to engage in conversation with me. Whatever, maybe she was having a bad day? In any case, I proceeded to tip her 18% as a professional courtesy (I used to work in the service industry, too).

As soon as the hostess completed my order, I asked her if I could have a glass of water to drink because I had just finished working out at the Equinox gym in the shopping plaza. The hostess straight up denied my request and told me, "we don't give water to take out orders." I asked her why and told her that was strange. She responded matter-of-factly that, "it's the policy, and I don't make up the rules." I told her that was a strange policy and asked why. She didn't have a response and was very avoidant; she didn't attempt to even talk to me or provide any form of decent service after I had just tipped her.

The hostess told me that my order would take 10-15 minutes. I stood there shocked. I wondered had I said something to offend her? Why would a restaurant refuse water to a customer that just paid for food? Did she not like me? Was it because I was covered in tattoos and looked out of place in techy San Ramon? Who knows, but I sincerely hope this was not an act of discrimination.

In any case, I got mad. I went back inside to sit down next to the hostess to wait for my takeout. I knew she was uncomfortable because she probably thought I was a crazy person. Did she think I wanted to take home the restaurant's water glass or something? Who the hell would want to take home a glass of water? What was so wrong about a thirsty customer asking for a glass of water?

I knew the hostess was talking about me because she walked to the back of the restaurant and it looked like she was gossiping about me with another server. Completely unprofessional and juvenile.

The hostess gave me my food. I sat there feeling foolish for a few minutes wondering if I should bring the issue up to the manager. I did. I caught the manager outside and told him about the situation. I told him that the hostess had embarrassed me and asked if it was the restaurant's policy to deny takeout orders water to drink. The manager automatically chalked the situation up to "miscommunication." He said he thought I was asking to take home a glass of water. What? Who the hell would want to take home a glass of water from a restaurant? What reasonable person would misunderstand a customer asking for a glass of water to mean that the customer wanted to take home a glass of water?

The manager, however, was apologetic, which he should have been from the outset. He told me that he would speak to the hostess. However, I don't think anything has happened.

The point is this: Your restaurant made me feel less than human. You denied my simple request to drink water. I paid you more money than you deserve and yet you could not provide a basic request. I submitted a complaint on your website and through your Instagram account, and you have not replied more than 15 hours later. Your customer service sucks. Your hostess is an entitled juvenile and I will let people know about this. The amount of...

I am not one for bad reviews, but this review is a total reflection of their brash manager Geoffrey. I have been here many times and the food has been good with spotty service. So today I was hungry and was craving a panini so looked at their menu and their chicken panini looked very appetizing. I came around 2:15 to get one and it was delicious. So I texted my buddy who loves good food equally. He's a doctor and left the hospital for lunch and by the time he got here it was 3:06PM and they declined to make him the panini. He texted me expressing his disappointment and I was across the way at Equinox working out and upon hearing this I went to restaurant to meet him. I asked for the manager and a huffing and puffing manager named Geoffrey came, I found him beyond unpleasant and rejected our request for the panini to be made. He gave some comical analogies on why it can't be made. He made it sound like I am asking him to amend the constitution. His tenor and his brashness left a very bad taste in my mouth.

Look, I'm someone who respects and appreciates the hospitality industry. My google account is filled with glowing reviews because I truly admire the effort it takes to create great experiences. But Geoffrey? He was the opposite of hospitable. A little self-reflection and maybe a crash course on what "hospitality" actually means might go a long way for him.

Good food is one thing, but how you make people feel matters more. And today, Geoffrey made two loyal customers feel like a nuisance for asking a simple,...

MANAGER IS VERY RUDE! Go somewhere else…

I been there couple of times, food is always great, kitchen look working hard. Terrible service. Specially the Manager.

When I arrived to the restaurant was not body to check in to sit so I just kept going to look for stroller parking. My friend and baby was waiting on the front for someone to sit us and he start making comments about me “Patient is a virtue that not all people have” I want it to leave but my friend was starving and pregnant so I just decided to let it go.

After we sit. Before even ask about water or anything for service he was pushing my friend to take the stroller outside but our kids are very little. This person have not understanding

Server came, was good with us. Later the same guy drop off food that was not my friend order. But right after was an older caucasian couple next to us, and he was so nice to them, ask about their day make a joke. So I try not to take it personal but I keep seeing how different services I got as a young latina mother in comparison to other costumers.

My friend approach the guy about the order being wrong and he roll the eyes and said, wait in your table until the server help you.

I mention to the server this and how uncomfortable was and I suggest some retraining and she answer me saying that he was the manager. It doesn’t matter!

Food is great! So is in other places.

Too bad that the manager ruin the whole experience. He should be making sure that...

Food is expensive, but decent. I eat lots of pizza pretty much everywhere I travel. This pizza is fine, but definitely expensive for what it is. The pasta we ordered was meh. Skip. Even my wife wasn't happy, and shes easy. The fried calamari, surprisingly was great. It came with a super juicy grilled lemon. Nice! Last, but not least. Our server was *crazy rude*. I asked for the check and he came back with his credit card machine and just stood in front of me with his hand out. I said, "I asked for the check. Don't I get to see what I'm paying for before you go ahead and charge me?" He rolled his eyes and turned the screen towards me so I could look over the digital list of items. As if I was somehow asking for the world for simply wanting to SEE MY check! I handed him my card and he runs it. Then he turns the machine back to me while he stares at me ponder how much to tip. I told him, "Hey man, it's kind of awkward and rude that you literally hover over me for this" He shows a look of exasperation and doesn't move. I put in a 10% tip because now *I AM* annoyed. He asks if I want my receipt. I say yes and he walks away. When he comes back he literally tosses my receipt on the table and quickly turns his back in me with no eye contact before walking away. Not a word spoken. Great experience! Thanks for ruining my experience there, Pedro.

Delarosa – Bishop Ranch (San Ramon, CA) My Honest Experience Delarosa offers high-quality Roman-style pizza, solid cocktails, and a sleek, modern vibe that’s great for a night out or lunch after shopping. The food definitely lived up to the hype—crispy thin-crust pizzas, flavorful small plates like meatballs and bruschetta, and a lively atmosphere. But… 👎 First Impressions Matter Unfortunately, the hostess/reception wasn’t welcoming. We didn’t feel greeted with warmth or respect, which was disappointing, especially at a place that presents itself as stylish and guest-focused. A smile or basic courtesy goes a long way—and that part was clearly missing. ⸻ 🍕 What We Loved: • Prosciutto Pizza: Perfectly crisp, rich flavor without being heavy. • Cocktails: Well-crafted and strong—especially the Marco Polo. • Atmosphere: Trendy, energetic setting with outdoor seating. Great for groups or casual dates. ⸻ 👎 What Could Improve: • Front Desk Attitude: A cold reception can ruin the mood before you’re even seated. • Seating: Mostly high-top or communal tables—not the most comfortable if you’re hoping to relax. ⸻ Would I Go Back? Yes—for the food. But I’d hope the staff, especially up front, could match the quality of what’s coming out of the kitchen.

I was shocked to discover that this restaurant charges an additional 4% fee on top of the cost of a gift card for "employee benefits and taxes." A gift card is essentially prepaid credit, charging this fee at the time of purchase is already questionable, but what's worse is that the person using the gift card will also be charged the same 4% again when they redeem it, along with tax on the meal. This means the restaurant is double-dipping: once from the person buying the card and again from the person using it. It feels incredibly unfair and deceptive. If this fee is meant to support staff or cover operating costs, it should be clearly included in the menu pricing, not tacked onto gift cards, which are supposed to be a neutral form of payment. I support fair wages and benefits for employees, but this approach lacks transparency and penalizes customers twice. I won’t be returning, and I can’t in good conscience recommend this place to others.
