Salt & Straw isn’t just a place for ice cream; it’s a gourmet adventure where every scoop feels like it should be paired with a fine wine and a TED Talk. I took my family and in-laws here last night, and let me tell you, I left with more emotional depth than when I arrived.

First off, let’s talk about the flavors. You think you’re getting “just” ice cream? Think again. This place has flavors so intricate they come with a backstory. I’m not talking chocolate or vanilla. I’m talking about turkey ice cream. Yes, turkey. And it was… surprisingly good. I don’t know how they did it, but they captured the essence of Thanksgiving dinner in a single, creamy bite. My taste buds were like, “Wait… is this dessert or existential enlightenment?”

But that’s only the beginning. Ever wanted a scoop of “Pine Needle with a Hint of Cabin Vibes”? How about “Avocado Toast with a Dash of Mortgage Regret”? The choices go from eccentric to just plain cosmic. Each sample is a revelation, and the staff patiently takes you through it like they’re guiding you through a fine art museum. “Oh, here’s a sample of our Honey Lavender with just a touch of Nostalgia for That Summer in 2012.”

The ambiance? Immaculate. A blend of rustic, hip, and “I’ll sell you a $15 ice cream cone because we both know you need this.” The lighting was soft and warm, clearly designed to enhance the flavor profile of the scoop of turkey and cranberry swirl I found myself eating and, honestly, loving.

Salt & Straw isn’t just dessert. It’s the culinary equivalent of interpretive dance, a symphony for your senses, a lesson in embracing the unconventional. Bring your family, bring your in-laws, and buckle up—it’s the kind of experience that makes you question everything you thought you knew about ice cream…...

Excellent customer service and community care! A huge shout out to Brandy and her whole crew working Saturday night August 16th, 2025 at the Bishop Ranch location!

Everyone was really friendly and moved the sizable line through efficiently and cheerfully. I never felt rushed or ignored. It was super busy with several movies getting out or starting at the theater. Lots of kids, teens, and adults hoping for some ice cream.

In consumer chaos like that it is understandable for even the best workers to loose their cool or kindness. Not here, not tonight. Everyone was working like a team.

Brandy (the assistant manager) was supportive of her employees and encouraged them in a great working-community way.

Oh did I mention the ice cream was delicious? Cause it totally was. Best way to end a night in San Ramon at the Bishop Ranch Shopping Center! Thanks Team...

Shout out to this wonderful ice cream parlor the flavors are amazing and they let you taste as much as you would like. I was double charged on my receipt and I was wondering why my bill was so expensive. It was a hot day. I called in and let them know I was double charged. I didn't wanna go back because I was tired but when I got back, not only did they give me a refund. They gave me three hand pack flavors of their wonderful ice cream and they gave me sprinkles for my little one I was shocked once again I didn't wanna go back. It was like 100° today and I wanted to go home. I had ice cream in the bag that had melted. They refunded everything. Treat shout out to this young lady in the photo. I don't know her name but her customer service is excellent for above that I even expected. Thank you young lady for your hospitality. May you go far in the...

My friend and I met up at Bishop Ranch with my 2.5 y/o daughter and her 8 month old son today (the first really hot day since the two week winter/spring spell). To cool us off, I treated us to delicious Salt & Straw ice cream. My daughter and I went in, and we beat the rush. Not realizing the logistics of bringing the ice cream back to the grassy area, I quickly panicked about how to carry 2 cups of ice cream and a milkshake (plus a very eager toddler excited about her milkshake). Without asking, our server was so kind to offer to bring it outside to us! A small gesture that made me feel seen as a mom. This kind act of kindness truly makes this world shine brighter. Kudos to your staff! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

It’s our first time to Salt & Straw and we were super excited. Wifey and me were discussing what all to taste in the big line there was on a busy Saturday. But when we reached the counter, the staff serving us was super sad and frustrated while giving the samples. That was so against the marketing model of “We highly recommend tasting it all”. We chose chocolate gooey brownie and honey lavender as a double scoop in waffle bowl. Honey lavender individually was good. Chocolate gooey brownie was bitter at times. Overall not so great experience. You should stick with your marketing stint and happily give samples to new customers to make more happy ones who will eventually return.
