While the restaurant has potential of being a unique downtown destination, a few issues need to be resolved with this new eatery. First, the service was not to par as a family of four was served food before our table of three when the aforementioned group of four arrived & ordered after our table. Second, the menu and actual availability of food offered did not match. In fact, the menu was written on continuously as if the kitchen could not keep in stock what the printed menu stated. Third, the offered meals did not specify how spicy the food is nor did the wait staff indicate the spiciness of any particular food ordered. For example, the Grilled Shrimp Taco reads as if it were safe for a child to order, but in reality came with an unexpected kick. Delicious for an adult, but not necessarily a good choice for a kid. A kid's selection is not offered on menu or suggested by staff. Lastly, it was disappointing not to have combos available when wanting to make a meal out of the taco selections. It seems logical to have a 2-3 taco selection with side & drink offer to help save money and to promote the ordering of more food. Alas, all tacos are sold al a carte with no side. Everything is ordered piece by piece which can get expensive as the average price is $4 for one small soft taco. So, order two tacos and a side, your meal comes to $12 without a drink. It is a bit steep for the amount of food you get. On the plus side, the tacos are very flavorful. They offer a vast variety of different tacos, if available. The side salad is fresh and hardly needs any dressing due to the unique and plentiful toppings. The avocado and chips appetizer is large enough to share or could be a side to two tacos as well. No drinks were ordered except for water during my visit as prices seemed steep for a family outing. However, the place was clean, the water was fresh, the staff was friendly, and what food was offered was delectable. Great for adults. Not so good for the average...
Read moreI stopped here for dinner with my girlfriend and unfortunately had the worst service we’ve come across in years. We ordered their taco classic with a quantity of three and asked for corn tortillas instead the flour tortillas. When we got our order two tacos were dropped off instead of the three expected from what the menu stated. I waited for our server (who was non-existent) to come back so we could ask about the reason of why only two. She did not return to our table for the rest of our visit. It came to the point while waiting for the server to revisit our table (10 minutes) that I decided to go and ask another server the reason behind why. It was at this conversation that it was brought up the server should have stated that if we got corn tortillas it would be one taco less. This was not the case, the server said that they could heat up another tortilla or make me another taco at an extra charge for the server not communicating this to us. This is not how to handle an error made by your staff and lack of dictation on your menu. Please update your menu to include this hidden detail and train your staff to handle these errors when it occurs.
That is not where this review ends unfortunately. Our server willingly avoided us and did not speak to us again for the rest of our visit. WE AS PATRONS had to tally our bill for ourselves AND then find the waitress to give her cash for it. This has been the hands down worst experience in Sandusky that I’ve ever had in my fifteen years of visiting this wonderful city. And that includes a visit to red lobster where they took 2 hours to cook shrimp. ...
Read morePretty disappointing. My S/O wanted to go here because it "caters to alternate diets." 90% of the time, that doesn't mean it actually has plant based options, it means they have stuff for the people who don't want gluten (but don't actually have Celiacs lol), or have meals with low sodium, or fat, whatever.
So on their entire menu, they have zero solely plant based options. I've attached their menu, and the closest thing is Cauliflower tacos. To be plant based, most of it needs to be removed.
I asked if there was anything non plant in it, anything with animal products. Julie said no. So I asked again, there's no egg, milk, anything like that in the barra slaw- "Oh, yes, there's mayonnaise." Okay. . . None of that. What about the lime aioli? No? You're sure? Mayonnaise again.
So four dollars each, these two tiny scraps come out. Two tiny tortillas, $.50 worth of cauliflower, and some seasoning. It didn't help that when the food came out we were out of water, and never had a refill any point after.
My lady said "eh" when asked about her tacos. I get paying more for a sit down restaurant (I was mentally comparing to Chipotle), as the same price is 1/3 the food. But here I have a server. Who should get water, and know the menu.
They almost earned two stars, but apparently they don't allow off duty law enforcement, retired law enforcement, and Ohio certified concealed carry holders to have the means to protect their lives and others in the...
