My partner and I ordered takeout this evening. We are new to Georgia, having moved here in December of 2022. We moved to the area from Los Angeles. She was born and raised in Miami and me, NYC. We have been searching for a fine restaurant in Marietta and hoping that Brooklyn Cafe would fulfill our hopes. We were sorely disappointed. The restaurant gets 5 stars for service which was very warm and friendly and responsive. There wasn't one empty table. Even every seat at the bar was taken, so it is clearly a popular place. People seemed happy to be there. There was a festive, friendly and lively atmosphere. As I waited to pay for my food, I could see waitresses walking by with plates of food and I knew immediately that we wouldn't like the food. We ordered the "Awesome fish tacos", avocado egg rolls, the avocado and crab appetizer and french fries. The tacos were soggy, with dense, unrefined seasoning. We remarked that we've made much more fresh, flavorful and well-seasoned tacos ourselves at home and neither of us are chefs. The fries tasted like they might have been frozen previously. They had no taste or flavor. The avocado egg rolls are a knock off of The Cheesecake Factory’s avocado eggrolls and I’m sorry to say that the CF’s used to be much better. I haven’t been to the CF in 5 years and before that, hadn’t been there in over 10 years but I recall these used to be one of my favorite appetizers. The eggrolls from Brooklyn Café were soggy and tasteless and again had no refined seasoning. The avocado and crab was nothing special: poorly seasoned again. We threw out half of our food and only ate what we did because we were hungry and didn't want to waste our money.
We decided to go to Brooklyn Café because it had a 4.7 rating on Google. We figured all these reviewers can’t be wrong, and I guess they aren’t, because taste is relative. Having eaten in very fine restaurants in NY, Los Angeles, Chicago and other places around the world, I guess our palate is just more refined. We’ve become accustomed to chefs who have a sophisticated sensibility when it comes to seasoning and cooking food to perfection. There is an alchemy involved in cooking that is definitely missing in every restaurant we’ve been to in Marietta, including the Brooklyn Café. We won’t be dining there anymore. We promised we'd drive to Atlanta if we ever decide to go to...
Read moreThe first thing that turned me off about this place is I phoned in my order of their Amazing Trout Dip and after placing my request Anne ask me if I want to leave a gratuity??? I thought to myself, this is a phone order do I really need to leave a gratuity??? Please help me out with this because I didn't think that was necessary on a phone in order???? That was off putting🥴🥴🥴🥴 Then, I get there and my Amazing Trout Dip has been sitting unrefrigerated for I would say 30 minutes another pause for concern....When I asked, how long it had been sitting the Male host said in his slick out of the mouth way, "if you asked for it to be ready at 4:15pm then that's when it was prepared." Mind you I arrived at 4:45pm due to 285E traffic...Then I said, I never asked for a specific time. When Anne was asked about prep time, she lied to my face and said, "your order is good it just landed." Now at this point I thought cancel the order and move on but, because the host already confirmed how long it had been sitting and....The container was room temperature when I retrieved it...I should have listened to my instinct and asked for a fresh order of their Amazing Trout Dip but you know to never ask for a remake in a restaurant because you never know what other secret ingredients could be added to the remake request lol at any rate, I took Anne's word and brought it home mistake 🤢🤢🤢🤢 Not only was it not Amazing as advertised it tasted rank and caused some serious gastrointestinal after effects and the portion ordered was definitely not a dinner portion either. I kind of felt if I had left a gratuity my experience would have been better and I say that because when Anne asked if I wanted to and I said no her nice phone service changed and she curtly hung the phone up without even saying goodbye... If there is a next time, I will order when I arrive to ensure freshness and...
Read moreSo I’m getting my to go order and my husband pays over the phone so I don’t have to go in with my 3 year old son for any reason just for Amy to yell at me when I ask her for my sauce I then asked for a manger and she lies and says she’s the manager while yelling and refuses to bring me the manager and I refused to be inconvenienced so I honk for someone’s attention to avoid having to take my son inside to complain then still no one comes out so I’m forced to go in and complain just to get lectured by Jeff about how rude I was to honk despite how horribly I was treated so I went from the victim to the villain so my issue was not addressed but instead my son had to watch me get yelled at a second time first it was by the woman Amy then by the manager after I complained about Amy and when I tried to explained to Jeff that I had been a loyal customer for years he said clout does not help me in this situation and I had no right to honk even though I was severely mistreated by Amy he did not apologize or even acknowledge Amy at all So be prepared for horrific customer service if u decide to eat here they lost me for life and after seeing the horrible reviews that others have left I’m upset I dealt with them this long. The sad part is it all could of been avoided and prevented if Amy acted like a normal civilized human being but instead of had to deal with a secondary uncivilized Human being who blames the customer instead of...
