Flower child has been on my list of places to try for years. I am always passing by, and for some reason never end up dining at the restaurant. This all changed a few weeks ago. I was leaving an appointment in the area and did not want to be stuck in Traffic. As such, I opted to stop by Flower Child and have dinner.
The restaurant is located in a very popular area in Sandy springs called City Springs. The area offers ample parking on the main streets as well as parking directly in front of the establishment for a max of 2 hours. Flower Child had a corner spot directly off of Johnson Ferry Road.
Pulling up to the restaurant immediately evokes happy feelings. The neon green and yellow with black and white stripped umbrellas is such a cute contrast.
Walking in, you notice that you have to order first and then find a seat. Since this was my first time, I did take a minute to look over the menu to make the tough decision of what to order. The menu is full of nourishing goodness. You have vegetarian options to steak options to chose from. I opted for the protein and pick two vegetable option. I went for the salmon, sweet potatoes and Brussels sprouts. Once I paid, I was given a number to place on my table and the wait began.
The restaurant has ample staff and appear to have a good system going. A large majority of the staff put their energy into delivering the orders to tables. All of the staff are friendly and appear to enjoy working at the restaurant. It is always refreshing when you witness co workers getting along and actually engaging with each other in a positive way.
My food took about 15 minutes to arrive. First impressions: the food looked fresh and packed with flavor. The only negative critique would be that the salmon was over cooked for my taste. After having my first bite, I knew I was hooked. Everything had amazing flavor. As suspected the salmon was over cooked but I still ate every bite of it!
I enjoyed my meal so much that I returned two days later. Then after enjoying that meal- yep I was back again! Since finally trying this gem out I have dinned at this restaurant a total of 4 times. I had to have a conversation with myself to stop going!! Just in case you are wondering, yes, I enjoyed every last one of the meals I tried. I think the enchilada bowl has my vote for a favorite dish right now.
Long story short: if you want to dine out, but not feel guilty about it- this is your spot. Not only will you get a healthy meal, it will also be packed...
Read moreThe entrance is very inviting. The snake plant wall divider is the best semi wall idea I have seen a restaurant do in many many years.
There are three menus posted to the audience of incoming consumers. The menus are placed for convenient production of a long line.
This establishment has so many staff members in their employment and I believe Flower Child did this to help with constantly packed business. Excellent job the staff productivity is great 👍.
I would only recommend this eatery as a brunch location considering Flower Child's menu.
Food quality is great. Overall fresh food plus food product value matches well for the price.
My two complaints are one the mutiple gender bathrooms.. I understand that we as a whole in society are trying to do this whole "oh so.. California movement" that must end with the bathrooms.
I never saw the reason to add more patronage to a single bathroom.... it's already gross sharing a bathroom with the general public. Men miss the toilet bowl and women bleed. There is no reason to share any of that together.
Lastly, I understand that the wicker metal catastrophe combination is supose to give off the repurposed decor "look". I watched everyone in the entire restaurant sit at another chair option or awkwardly move the wicker confusion funiture piece due to the chair's inability to move at ease.
I personally never understood the wicker fascination. I will state this tho. Wicker is very very hard to clean. Those chairs are flat out not getting cleaned... too impossible to clean at the very start. I suggest a different chair to clean for ease of the great staff members.
Thankyou, best place I ate at during my...
Read moreI’m a fan. It’s a vegetable-forward place with straightforward favorites that are very well prepared. You can add protein- plant or animal- to most plates as if it’s meant to be there. Don’t worry omnivores, it’s just instead of me going into a regular restaurant and asking for an heirloom tomato and watermelon salad with no chicken, you can get an heirloom tomato and watermelon salad at Flower Child and add chicken, if you so desire. IDK why I used that dish as an example. The tomato and watermelon was excellent by the way. I also had sautéed spinach and mac n cheese and they were also both just about perfect and way better than I can do at home. Both of those would be a better example of something you could add chicken to. Wow this review is going off the rails. What else what else. The decor is noice. Great open air kitchen and easy to read menu board up high. Seat yourself and someone you wish you were friends with will bring you your food in bowls and on plates clearly made with recycled polystyrene woot woot. Choose from a half dozen bottomless glasses of flavored iced teas and lemonades. There’s patio seating but I can’t imagine wanting to sit there if the sun is or has been shining. The southern exposure combined with the typical strip mall’s heat island effect makes just getting in the door before you evaporate into the sun a challenge. That’s not Flower Child’s fault though... unless they were the ones who were like, “Cover 98% of this entire place with cement and asphalt. Plant a token tree over by that gym that looks like city hall.” Also the straws are made of plant cellulose so they won’t end up in a turtles...
