Came here to eat on Sept. 14th with my family. We rarely eat out anymore because lately it's turned out to be such a disappointment, but we ventured out in search of good Chinese food.
I believe we thought we were going to another place that my Mom had seen online, but after seeing the reviews we decided to search this place out. I've lived in GA off an on for many years and from the look of this place it's probably been here for some time. Also from the look of the crowd, it seems to be a fav with the locals.
I started not to leave a review thinking that maybe it was just us and perhaps something messed with our taste buds, but I just pulled my receipts out to toss it and relived the experience all over again. I ordered the lo mein which I was told would be skinny noodles and I should've known then that it wouldn't be what I wanted, and it wasn't. It was very salty and inedible.
Before that even hit my mouth, I was busy trying to wash out the taste of the pork dumpling that I actually did have to send back because it was so pasty, dense. Potstickers are some of my favs and usually the only time I will eat pork, these were so bad. We switched for the egg rolls which was better.
My daughter always plays her meals safe and just orders beef and fried rice, after a few bites, she couldn't eat it saying that the texture was really slimy. My mom got egg foo young, the gravy had zero flavor and was just bad. We paid, because what was the point in arguing. We would have all had to send our food back and we were too hungry to do that... $68 later we just took the L. We all had to toss our meals.
I will say that there were other patrons ordering food that looked much better than ours. The customers were rolling in steady and there were many take out orders. So maybe people have different tastes buds......
Read moreI've been visiting this restaurant for about 20 years. Today, after a long time, my family and I decided to have dinner there. However, we immediately noticed that all the staff were unfamiliar and very unfriendly. When taking our order, the waitress had a rude attitude, unpleasant gestures, and an unprofessional tone. She seemed frustrated when she couldn’t understand our order due to her limited English skills, responding condescendingly. Our entire family started feeling uncomfortable before the food even arrived.
When our meal was served, it was disappointing compared to what we had experienced in the past. We ordered multiple foods and a fish, but it was completely different from what we used to have. It was mostly bones and had been fried, making it nearly inedible. I remembered how, in the past, they would serve a large fish, and the waiter would skillfully cut it for us. So, I politely asked if they could cut the fish properly. However, the waitress responded with an irritated expression and a loud, dismissive tone, repeatedly saying, “Cut, cut, what?” in an unpleasant manner.
To make things worse, she then turned around and began speaking loudly to another waitress while facing directly at our family, making sure we could hear her. Sensing that something had changed, I asked another waitress if the ownership had changed. She confirmed that the original owner, whom we had always appreciated, had sold the restaurant and retired. Now it is a new owner and rude staff.
My family and I were deeply disappointed. We will never return to this restaurant again and certainly won’t recommend it to anyone. It was an awful experience and a truly...
Read moreWe will never come back to this restaurant after the way we were treated. We have been loyal customers of Canton cooks for over 20 years. We knew all the workers, and workers knew us. A couple of months ago we ordered salt and pepper squid - something this restaurant has been famous for. We have been ordering this dish for many years, but that time it came out horrible, it was very greasy and soggy, it was basically inedible. I politely complained about it, the water took it inside and cooked it more only making the matters worse. I asked to take the dish off the bill because it was impossible to consume and they did so. Yesterday, when we came in, it didn’t look like anyone was interested in serving us, no one was coming to say hi or have a small talk about how life has been like they used to. The younger owner lady was walking by and we asked if she could take our order. We wanted to order the squid again believing that the last time was just fluke. However, she told us that she would not sell it us because “nobody complains, only you complain.” At first I thought she was joking and said i promise we won’t complain, but she kept refusing. I was basically insulted in front of my family. My 11 year old son was so deeply upset because he grew up eating in this restaurant and it was his favorite place. I could not believe that instead of owning their mishaps, they decided to lose a good customer. We are a family of 4 and it’s easily a $100 bill. I will make sure to tell all of my friends to never...
