When we arrived, it was empty. Ok, no biggie. The waitress sat us behind a couple that we could hear them grumbling but didn’t pain it much attention.
I went to scan the QR code on the table for the menu. I mean, there’s no menu on the table nor did she hand us any, so I was like ok cool. Scanned it and got the error message that this menu is defunct. The waitress came up and said, “it don’t work”, then handed us a menu to share. She said, “oh yeah, we only have one”. Now it would be something if the menu was extravagant and colored like this one from any other restaurant that you could go to. But it was a faded, black and white and dirtyish menu.
I’m looking at it sideways while my wife is looking at it and trying to figure out what to order from this sheet. That was already off-putting. Then we hear the couple behind us getting louder and my wife gets up and waves at them to ask, is everything ok? The husband says “this ain’t it”. I look over my shoulder at what looked like a massacre. Waffles. Soggy. Red stuff all over it. He said they were not good. He said the shrimp and grits were “not it”.
Look. I don’t usually write reviews. But I drove ALL from Cumming with my wife and we took the back route because we were making this a memory. Imagine it being punctuated with nothing good from this spot. Sigh. It used to be Marlow’s Tavern, which is a nice spot with great potential. Unfortunately we did not bother to order because they said it was not good and the waitress said “I like the chicken”. Yeah. Bad sign. We left and went to Goldberg’s. Hopefully yall get more than one menu to share with all of the people that could be there and get some management to run the place like it could be. I was looking forward to eating...
Read moreI had an absolutely phenomenal brunch at Nana’s Chicken and Waffles—hands down one of the best brunch experiences I've had not just in Atlanta, but anywhere in the States. Every dish I tried was flavorful, seasoned to perfection, and clearly made with care. It’s rare to find genuinely good food in Atlanta brunch spots that isn’t drowned out by DJs, hookah, and “vibes.” If you’re looking for amazing food without the extra hype, this is the place.
The fried green tomatoes were honestly the best I’ve ever had—crispy, tangy, and perfectly balanced. The grit cakes, which are their creative twist on shrimp and grits, were not only innovative but deeply satisfying and packed with flavor. Their wings? Incredible. Perfectly seasoned, crispy, and a normal, reasonable size—not the oversized, "jumbo" over-processed kind you find too often. The peach cobbler waffle was rich and decadent, and the beignets with the raspberry sauce were the perfect sweet touch to round out the meal.
The atmosphere was welcoming and chill, and I was excited to hear the bar will be opening soon. A standout moment was seeing the owner there, actively working alongside her staff. That kind of leadership, especially from someone with a celebrity profile, really impressed me—it showed a real commitment to quality and community.
The staff was warm, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed. Truly a 10/10 experience across the board. If you’re serious about good food and a great atmosphere, Nana’s Chicken and Waffles is a must-visit. I’ll absolutely...
Read moreNana's Chicken-n-Waffles was a huge disappointment. Are reservation was on Sunday at 2:30 for party of two. We were seated very promptly. After reviewing the menu my husband ordered the Chicken and plain waffles. The waitress informed us they were out of chicken, but could substitute with chicken tenders and they did not have plain waffles (. He then ordered the Cajun shrimp & grits (not recommended). The grits looked liked someone cooked on a lazy Sunday morning. The grits were somewhat watery with added sausage, shrimp, red & green peppers thrown on top (the family special sauce was missing). I ordered the skillet potatoes that included sweet potatoes. I was hesitant about the sweet potatoes; I actually like the combination. I also ordered the Cajun grit cakes that were very bland and would not give it a rating cause that would be too nice. The crawfish and étouffée sauce was missing. I did express my dissatisfaction to the waitress and she was sympathetic. When we were waiting for the bill, Kelly came out and greeted the table next to ours. I did expect her to check on her other guests (maybe five other tables) to see how everyone liked the food and service. I would have given her my honest opinion because I like to see us all winning. She never engaged with the other patrons.
PS They did not have bottle water 😫
