Went here Sunday (8/19/18) with some friends and before we even walked in the door the sever/bartender "Sarah" (I don't know if that was her real name) was very rude and had an obviously attitude towards us. She was short and raised her voice and use profanity at us, all before we even tried to order drinks. She also pushed some other guy who wasn't with our group to sit at our booth (I guess because he was around our age/poc), but we let him since she obviously wasn't letting us or that other dude sit at the bar. Instantly mood was ruined and I wanted to leave but for some reason the other guys stayed for our ONE drink that the bartender said that we were only allowed to have, which that part I didn't mind since it was about 40 mins till closing but after that she continued to be rude and very unfriendly so much so that one of the guys told her it was the worst customer service and she got even more belligerent with us. She kept insisting that we were all super drunk and trying to talk the place up saying "this isn't Taco Mac" but I was the DD of night and sober the others were no were near that drunk or rude (and I am not afraid to call my friends out); she just came at us with preconceived prejudice I assume because of our age (21-25) or maybe also our demographic make-up (all of us but one was poc). If you are older and NOT a person of color then she will probably treat you like a king. Never recommending or going there again! Plus it had a...
Read moreI've been to this place twice now, and each time I am shocked that it is owned by Taco Mac.
Getting into the location involves walking down a small hill past Taco Mac and into what looks like a small alley. There are two doors at the end, one for deliveries and the other the location.
The Chapter Room reminds me of that scene in Titanic where the men go off to this room to discuss being Masters of the Universe. All dark coverings and a very masculine feel. There are no windows, but keeping in line with the speakeasy feel, that makes perfect sense. The only thing to take me away from my vision were TV's with sports playing on them.
They have a lot of neat beers, and although I'm not a beer drinker, their cocktails and wine are lovely. Everyone I have gone with though enjoys beer, and they were pretty impressed.
The food is good! I always get the charcuterie board, but I have had bites of some other dishes. It doesn't disappoint.
So why the 4 stars? In all actuality it is probably like 4.8 stars, but the price is a bit steep. Last time I went it cost 51 dollars before tip for a shared charcuterie board, one glass of wine, and two beers. Not terrible, but don't go in expecting regular bar prices. The second reason? If you are a picky eater there is not much to choose...
Read moreService was excellent! I didn't catch the bartender's name, but she was very personable. I had three of their signature cocktails.
I normally don't like Tequila, but I decided to give the Paloma a shot and found it very refreshing and well balanced. Perfect type of drink to have by the pool. Or at a mancave bar in this case.
The "best coast" was by far the best drink of the three. This cocktail hit all the right notes and the creamy texture took it to the next level. Honestly I would come back just for this drink.
I ended with the espresso martini, which was a poor choice. Definitely a bit too sweet for my taste. The drink was mixed with citrus vodka and orange bitters, but it honestly just tasted like straight coffee liquor. Skip this one.
Apart from that, I would recommend giving the other two cocktails a try. I'll definitely be back to try some of their...
