4 September 2025: So I first discovered this place when they had a food truck at the Cobb International Festival in Marietta. I ate their beef ramen bowl and dumplings, and it was so good that I made it a point to try their physical location.
So a couple weeks later, I did just that! Service was amazing. The manager and my server were both attentive. I was indecisive about which cocktail I wanted, so the manager (Kellen or Hellen) gave me a free Lychee Martini. She said that's one of their top sellers. I appreciate the manager's kind gesture, but I did not like my cocktail. I did not appreciate the over-the-top sweetness of the Lychee Martini. The more I continued drinking it, the more I realized I could not handle its sweetness. It was soooo sweet that I had to cut it down with a pour of pineapple juice. This helped and was the only way for me to finish the drink.
My entrée was the Japanese curry chicken with the brown rice. It was quite bland and disappointed me the more I continued to eat it. My scrambled eggs didn't contain any salt or pepper. I didn't realize I had to request that. I don't like wasting food or my money, so I ended up finishing my bowl -- took me a while to finish it, though. Won't be getting that again. I'm not giving up on this place because I'm going to try other food options.
Their mango sorbet was sweet, fresh, and refreshing.
Each day during the week, they have specials. So I went on a Tuesday, and they offer $2 off each menu item. They also give military discount, but you can't combine two offers at once.
I'm definitely gonna come here on another Tuesday, just to get my $2 deal, lol. I may just end up sticking with my beef ramen bowl and dumplings since that's already proven...
Read moreOk, it literally pains me to leave this review because I normally enjoy myself when I come here, but today was just not acceptable. This review is not about the food, which is always amazing, exceptional sushi!, but about the service. From the front window before entering you could see dirty plates and glasses still sitting at the bar where guests had eaten, not 1 setting but 2 settings! There was no-one tending the bar or the front door. I understand about staffing on light days, I used to work service industry. I walk in and the server brings over a menu at the bar but proceeds NOT to clean up the messes surrounding the area where I was sitting, nor return within 10 minutes of me sitting there to get my drink order or any order. Come on! How complicated is it to remove dirty dishes and wipe down the counters, especially in front of guests? However many servers there were working today no-one was attentive at the bar and with the server who gave me the menu, she was handling a to go order prior to my arrival but once that was completed she was a little more occupied with her phone than tending to me the patron at the bar still waiting to place an order! 😐 she proceeded to the kitchen and I proceeded to the door! I left and popped up to Taco Mac where I can always count on the consistency of good food AND service regardless of the day! Genki, please get it together. Will I go back? Yes I will because this, for me is a first offense! The food is still so...
Read moreI have no idea who was packing to-go food for delivery today but they need to be taught food safety before they're allowed to do so again. They packed raw fish on TOP of a giant container of hot food. Since heat rises this is the opposite of how cold foods should be packed when in the same container as hot foods. This resulted in my sashimi arriving partially cooked and thus in the temperature danger zone. It had to be thrown out.
The restaurant also needs to come up with a different packing method for noodle soups as well. They just sent everything all in one container, so almost all the soup had been absorbed by the noodles, ruining the texture. This problem would be solved if you pack the noodles separately from the soup. The tempura shrimp were the only part of the soup packed separately and they were soggy as wet bread due to being sealed in a plastic box with no vent holes to allow steam to escape.
Packing issues aside, I have to comment on the Nabeyaki Udon (apart from the awful texture created by the packaging issues). If you like good udon you won't like this. It's mostly dry, grilled chicken breast and white onions, and tastes like it was made by an American who'd only ever read about Japanese food. It honestly reminded me of the chicken stew at the country-style buffet I worked at in...
