Friendly staff. A bit confusing on the ordering process. Could be more generous on allotment of veggies.
With 3 locations in Southern California established since 2017, Whealthy expanded to the East Coast and opened their first location in Sandy Springs, GA last September. We finally paid a visit for the first time recently and were not disappointed with their food!
The ordering process was a bit confusing. They have a big touchscreen by the counter, so for a first timer, the intuitive thing when seeing that is to order on the touchscreen. While we were halfway into the order on the touchscreen, the employee behind the counter said we could also place our order with him (there was no sign stating it). Wish they could have a sign saying you could order with an employee or on the touchscreen (we saw another group of customers had similar confusion).
And also based on their menu, we thought they would have some pre-set menu items (they displayed some “Signature Dishes”), so we wouldn't have to pick all the ingredients. Nope, those are more like a “style”, or sauce, not something you can just say “I want that“, then you are done ordering. You still have to pick your noodles (spaghetti, udon, or egg noodles) or rice (white or brown). Then pick three veggies, and two proteins (all pre-portioned into small cups), then spicy level, adding fried egg (+$1) or not. That was quite an amount of choices to make.
In short, this is like a “build your own bowl“ type of place, and your food will be stir fried in their rotating firepots. Regarding the three veggies, I wish they could follow Chipotle or most Poke places, that allow you to choose as many veggie options as you want and not limit to only 3 types. Some of the veggie options are more of a topping/garnishment, such as green onions, cilantro, jalapenos, etc, it made customers feel the restaurant was being stingy when those are counted toward your three veggie options (or $0.75 extra each if you want to choose extra).
Their fried egg (+$1) wasn’t cooked to order. They pre-cooked a batch and stored them in a warmer/cooker. Most dishes are $12.99. With the portions given, we felt this was a fair price.
The food took ~5 minutes to cook, and you get to see them use the rotating firepots to cook the food. Compared to cooking with a traditional wok, using rotating firepots to cook saves the employees a lot of work and they don’t have to hold and toss the heavy woks. They have 8 rotating firepots at this location; I assume if it gets busy, each employee can probably handle 2-3 at a time. Our dishes were served HOT and we loved it!
We dined-in on a Friday evening around 6:30pm. With our ~30 minutes there, we were the only group of customers dining in, and we saw only two other customers (takeout). They staffed 5 people working in total (most had nothing to do and were on their phones). I guessed they expected many more customers or online orders or maybe they tend to get busy later in the evening. But if the amount of guests stays this low and they keep staffing this many employees, I’m afraid this location won’t stay open for long.
All in all, we had a good dining experience and love their food. We will consider returning to try out some...

The concept is similar to Poke Bar & Chipotle -- it's a fast casual dining restaurant but it might take a little longer because they make your dishes FRESH and you can see everything cooked live in the open kitchen. The kitchen consists of these fancy cooking pots/woks, and they use intense fire to cook your food, so your food in ensured a smoky/fiery flavor as well.
We tried the Whealthy Fried Rice, Shrimp Vongole Pasta, Cream Pasta & Sweet Soy Chicken. Living in an era of high inflation, I was impressed to see how cheap the menu items were. I mean, it's hard to find pasta for $12 these days -- and the service is much faster than a sit-down restaurant, especially with their fancy high-tech cooking methods. You get to choose what noodle/rice you want, along with the veggies & protein. It's fun because you get to choose what goes in what dish with no additional charge. Of course, if you want more, you can add more proteins & veggies at an additional cost.
Everything tasted phenomenal, much better than the price value. Also, the portions were plentiful. I was actually shocked at how much food was given. The cream pasta was very creamy and flavorful, and I could definitely taste the fiery flavor within the dish. The shrimp vongole was my favorite -- pretty spicy (to the point I was sweating), but I loved the jam-packed flavor the dish delivered. I was so surprised that this kind of flavor can come out so quickly. The Whealthy Fried Rice tasted kind of like Kimchi Fried Rice, but there was no kimchi in there. Nevertheless, I loved the fried rice and the flavor that it had. It was actually really good, and I am curious as to what makes it taste that good. Last, but not least, the sweet & soy chicken was also great. I loved the stir-fried veggies that came along with it, but I loved it even more because it wasn't too sweet. The perfect amount of soy sauce & sugar.
Overall, I was very impressed and I am even more grateful that this restaurant opened up nearby my house. I will definitely frequent this place more often, and I was very impressed! Best of...

Decent stir fry. I tried the egg ram don. The noodle portions are huge but the veggie and protein portions/choices are limited. Kind of wish I could do a higher veggie to noodle ratio but overall it was very tasty. I got cabbage, jalapeños and onions and chose tofu and shrimp as my proteins and it was very spicy and savory. The egg was over cooked in my opinion- the yolk was solid through and it was precooked waiting in like a steamer basket. Would have preferred a runny yolk but still decent. The people working there were friendly and efficient. Didn’t take long to make my bowl and the spinning wok thing they cook the bowls in is pretty cool. I will definitely be going back especially since they are so close to me.
Edit 8/30: I went and dined in today and they used reusable plates instead of takeout containers. Big improvement. I tried the spicy chicken this time and it was delicious - the portion of rice they gave me was HUGE and the chicken was well marinated and perfectly cooked. They also added an option to the menu to add two extra veggies for 1.50 which is nice since it’s hard to chose when they have so many good fresh veggies.
From original review: Only real complaint about this place is the amount of waste generated for each order - they use paper cartons to prep your order, keep the protein pre cut and portioned in plastic disposable containers, and give plastic disposable bowls even for dine in options. Would be nice to see them use reusable/washable containers where possible. Even though the bowls are technically recyclable I doubt they are washing and recycling...
