Buono seems to have popped up out of nowhere, and interestingly, right next to Sweet Spot Bakery. They are quite similar, both being purveyors of baked goods, and serving food in a café style. I hope there is room enough for the both of them!
Buono's interior is small, and during this time of COVID lacks much extra space, but there is seating available, probably for 2 or 3 parties with adequate distance. They have a single bistro table out front for outdoor dining. With all that said, I think they are geared much more for takeout, so no biggie! They offer a few paninis and coffee, but the majority is sweets, and that's just how I like it! Their gelatos are beautifully presented, the towering cakes on the counter look like something out of a dream, but on my visit, I selected treats out of the cooler. There, you will find various pre-sliced and portioned desserts, all generously sized, and priced around $5.
The woman who assisted me packaged my purchase with care, including some plastic utensils and napkins. At home, my husband and I dug in, and ended up with quite differing opinions! My favorite was the cheesecake: no-bake style with a sort of strawberry jam topping, and salty cracker crust. Though rich, the very mild sweetness kept it from being too much. Next, I enjoyed the Marquise of Chocolate, basically mousse with layers of thin, buttery cookies. Again, rich, bordering on cloying, so that a bite or two at a time was nice, but no more. Last was the chocolate tres leches. The cake itself was perfection, mildly chocolatey and so moist, but not dripping with sweetened condensed milk. The whipped cream was great as well, and while I liked the idea of a layer of Nutella in between, found the execution heavy handed and overwhelming. On the other hand, my husband's rating on a scale of 1-10 was 1) Tres Leches ("This is how every cake should be!), 7) Cheesecake, and 10) Mousse (Supposedly "No flavor!"). So to each his or her own!
Additionally, they display adorable made-to-order cakes, some very detailed, along with gorgeous wedding cakes. The cashier was enthusiastic and so friendly, and the prices are reasonable, with little over $10. Overall, I found their treats a smidge too sweet for my taste, but also, they are sugary dessert and sweetness is kind of the point, so....that's...
Read moreAll I can say is WOW!! It was our first time here and I’m so happy we found this treasure! It’s a bakery specializing in desserts from Valenzuela. The sweet girl at the register took her time to describe all the desserts to us and it was hard for us to make a decision since everything sounded and looked delectable. The Key Lime Pie was perfectly tart and sweet! The Tres leches cakes are incredible. Whatever the peaches/cake dessert was is my new favorite. Will definitely be back! Highly recommend if you’re wanting something sweet but not too sweet! Also the girl at the front is so sweet and she let us sample the cakes so we can make a decision- we ended up taking them both! Great customer service and desserts makes the experience even better! Approved by...
Read moreI was looking for a cake for mother's day and I didn't know where to go, bakery's here in Utah could taste a little artificial, thank's to google I could find Buono Bakery and thought to give a try. The cake looks spectacular, didn't try it yet, until tomorrow Sunday, but we also bought a Chocolate cake slide, Flan and Chocolate mousse. Tomorrow I will write my comments in the Dulce de Leche cake, but as today, my husband and I enjoyed what we had. Chocolate cake was amazing, the cake is very fresh, soft and tasty, the Flan is very original on the recipe, we call it Crema Volteada. I will try the Chocolate mousse latter. Customer service was very nice, prices are affordable. I'm so glad that now I have a place to buy my...
