As you drive in to the the parking lot, the first thing you notice is the over abundance of outdoor covered seating. I say "over abundance" because for a Saturday evening at 7pm, the place was nearly empty indoors and out.
There is a sign on the door stating that due to covid restrictions, service hours have been reduced, (and are seemingly so even years later).
My group was directed to a dirty table with food on the benches and when we turned to inform the wait staff, they were no longer behind us so we sat ourselves at another table.
Cold, stale chips (which we were told were "just undercooked) were taken away and then replaced with what seemed to be exactly the same cold, stale chips.
The root beer that my son ordered, was at the end of it's syrup and mostly carbonated water. So he replaced it with Coke and had the same issue.
Our appetizer (the Queso Jalepeño Dip) was chunky and bland.
The chorizo and eggs were served with more onion flavor and texture than meat and eggs and the rice was extremely dry on all of our plates. The chicken burrito was bland and not properly shredded. The flautas suffered the same issue with the chicken. Arroz con Camarones were "acceptable" and having the tails off, was a plus. Portion size was much smaller in comparison though to other Mexican restaurants within a 30mi radius.
Our blackberry margaritas were more syrup than anything and came nearly black in color...a testament to the amount of syrup used.
For a bill that came to nearly $100 for the 4 of us for dinner, we could have stayed home and had a clean, fresh and flavorful meal with drinks all around for us and more friends.
For such a long time staple restaurant in Sandy... it's a wonder how much longer they will last if things don't...
Read moreStarted well, seated immediately, three or four tables of diners on the patio a couple and a large family group inside. It was very hot inside at 9 P.M. Served warm but in need of salt chips and thick, well seasoned (but no heat at all) salsa. It's hot and we got tiny glasses of water that when we drank quickly they gave us a pitcher. (loved that so I think the service has great potential) Then it went to hell. We ignored a passive aggressive, tacky bright green handwritten sign on the front door regarding not being open on Monday's so the staff all have a day off. Post your hours on the door and leave it at that, gawd. Another thing that makes me question the owner's attitude of doing business is that printed on the menu was a statement that no more than 2 (maybe...maybe it was 3) debit/credit cards per table would be accepted per table) W-in-the-actual F. Three couples go to dinner so one couple pays for the other? Or do the first and second couple split the third couples meal. Running a credit card cost a business....almost like there is a term for that....the cost of running a business? The menu was overwhelming, many of the items have mole sauce. Very few vegetarian options and in a restaurant where peoples reviews say "stay away from the beef" that was a bummer. The prices were high. Husband asked if the tortillas for fajitas are warmed on the grill and the response was: microwaved. For $15 we had some microwaved "Mexican" food at the 7-11 on the way home. We were honest we weren't willing to have microwaved food at a restaurant and excused ourselves. Our waitress (who's name I know but feel it's too rude to post that) asked us to pay $4 for the chips/salsa. We traded her for...
Read more75 bucks for a family of 4 and the food was garbage... I dont like giving poor reviews. I even took the suggestion of somebody that seemed to be employed here and suggested trying something different than the enchiladas... although of something is on the menu it should be good regardless. I tried the fish tacos this time, dcent flavor ut rhe way wverurhi g is thrown together o your plate ot was just like a sloppy wet towel... the rice and beans are just bottom of the barrel, I'd rather eat beans out of a can l, at least house have flavor. The rice also had no flavor. I had to dump my salsa on it to make it edible. As mention before I really hate giving poor reviews. The people here are great people but I would highly recommend they step their game up flavor wise on all their dishes. I like supporting local businesses but I can't throw away my hard earned money at this establishment knowing how bad the good is. I'd be willing g to try it again IF AMD that's a big if and when they over haul their menu. They need tot take a page out of the Margarita Factory when it comes not only to flavor but to...
