Sandy Family Restaurant & Ria's Bar — Restaurant in Sandy

This has to be one of the worst places I have ever experienced. I have eaten there 4 times now and I keep getting the same result. When you walk in the restaurant, it looks inviting and warm, has a very nice feel to it to say the least. We were seated right away which is usually a good sign. However once we ordered our drinks that is when the nightmare began. My family and I waited 20 minutes before the drinks arrived which wouldn't have been as bad because in all fairness we were playing games and just relaxing, but when the drinks did arrive the coffees were cold and they gave my brother warm milk. We requested some hot coffee and another glass of cold milk, at that point the waitress kinda rolled her eyes and told told us the milk was no refillable. After looking at the price they charge $4.00 a glass for a small glass of milk, I'm talking like 8 ounces of milk. In light of that we did not order any more milk. After requesting our drinks again but fresh the waitress rolled her eyes and then disappeared for another 20 minutes. Now before delving to deep into this keep in mind that the duration we were at the establishment there was a total of 2 other customers that were dining for the entirety of time. Now she finally brought fresh drinks and we thanked her. She then asked if we were ready to order which of course we have had 40 minutes to truly make our decision so I said yes and began to order. Half way through ordering she just walks away. About another 20 minutes pass and she comes back and asks where we were. We at this point begrudging finished the order and she took off again. Now our food took an hour to get to our table, which the quality of definitely was something that took much finesse but there should have been no reason that 3 burgers and a plate of scrambled eggs should have taken an hour. In that time frame the waitress didn't even bother checking on our table or refilling our drinks. Once our food finally came we asked for refills on our drinks, which never came, and if we could get a new bottle of ketchup. After about 15 minutes I went to one of the other tables and swapped out the ketchup containers for a full one. Once we were done eating she brought the bill by and I asked if we could please get those drink refills. She just looked at me and walked away. So after about another 10 minutes we just paid the bill with no tip obviously. We asked if there was a way to contact the owners or if we could speak to a manager and she refused to relinquish any information. As we were leaving she said, "thanks for the tip.' Which in turn i said, "thanks for the refills." So in short I will never be returning there again...ever! Now the food was decently priced but the drinks were about $2 more than they should have been. The food tastes good but is definitely not worth the rate. The interior is very nice and this establishment has all the makings to become a family hot spot. However the way that the staff is currently there is no hope for this place. I would not suggest going there unless finding a good way to aggravate and waste your entire day is the plan. This being said I hope that they can improve and turn into a fine...

Coming from Canada, working at a well known casual fine dining restaurant herw I am familiar with good service, good staff and good food. Coming to this place with already low expectations, and thinking racism and serving customers is NO longer a problem anymore, clearly this hole in the wall has proven me wrong. Sandys restaurant has proven me that racism and stereotypes still exist in Sandys "family" restaurant, Oregon. If this is what your restaurant represents, and what you intended on then good for you, you've really done well for yourself. From now on, I will never set foot near this place and make sure everyone on Vancouver island is aware of this. I have a ton of friends and family that travel to Oregon to be around good people and good food and this will clearly never be offered here. Just for the record, wherther you're black white native or Mexican you deserve the same service. And as far as I'm concerned, at least we offer this in your friendly neighbourhood country, Canada ! I am from out of state and have ate at Sandy's at least 5 times but the last time I had the club sandwich the first piece was grate the second peace had a piece had a piece of cut off tooth pick in is about 1/2 inch long not a big deal pull it out and finish the rest wright wrong. Before I eat any more I though I better look in the other pieces and sure enough there was another piece of tooth pick in that pice also. So I though maybe they just broke off from the tooth picks that where holding the sandwich together so I pulled out all the tooth picks on my plate and every one of them still had the points on them. So 2 pieces of cut off tooth picks in one sandwich. I am so glad that my son was not eating that sandwich or anyone else's kids. This is the first review I ever wrote. I just can't believe what happened at this place. Beware of eating there and if you do for the love of GOD please check your kids food befor they dig in. Good luck. I will...
