I hate this place with a passion. To be fair: the establishment is fine. The coffee is decent; not amazing; but satisfying, the staff there are very nice, and they're always playing great classic rock songs.
So why do I hate this place? Simple: it's because of the people that go there. Sunset is a complete hipster twerp dive hangout spot. The place is always packed with teens and kids in their early 20s that all think they're very wise and mature for their age and think they have it all figured out. The only reason they get to go there is because Sunset doesn't force you to buy anything to sit there.
The main attraction for these twerps to go to Sunset is they get to surround themselves with people that reinforce their delusional image of themselves. They sit around and have group discussions about comic books and video games. Occasionally, they try to have grown-up discussions about things like politics. Those discussions never last very long because it's quite obvious that all of their knowledge about politics comes from memes they see posted on social media.
I should point out that I am not the least bit socially conservative, but another problem is that a number of young girls, with little to no self-respect, show up there dressed extremely inappropriately. I don't know if they're looking for action or attention. This wouldn't be so bad if there weren't a number of creepy middle-aged men hanging out there. I suppose they're desperately trying to cling to the youth that left them so long ago, but looking at these girls is at least a part of why they hang out at Sunset.
The regulars at Sunset tend to heavily romanticize this place. Be weary of kids inviting you to Sunset, telling you that it has the most amazing coffee. The coffee from any chain coffee shop is on par if not superior to the coffee at Sunset. There is nothing about this place redeeming enough to put up with its customers or the kids that show up and don't buy anything. If you're not a 20 year old hipster, avoid this place at all costs.
PS If you go there, be careful about people asking you for cigarettes. Most of them are underage and you can...
Read moreSunset Cafe is an exceptional place to relax, study, work on a project, or simply escape from the world. This spot holds a special place in my heart with its perfect cafe culture. For the past 10 years, I've been a regular patron and have always enjoyed kind and understanding staff, a welcoming business atmosphere, and a commitment to ensuring you get a drink that perfectly suits your needs.
The cafe has been a staple in the community for as long as I can remember. They've undergone significant renovations in recent years, transforming from a smaller cafe into a much cozier, expanded space after acquiring the neighboring location. The newly painted walls add to the warmth of the environment. True to its name, Sunset Cafe offers an incredible view of the valley, providing a first-class seat to stunning sunsets every evening.
A few things to note: Due to its well-deserved popularity, the cafe can get quite crowded, especially between 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM most nights. If you want to avoid the rush, I recommend visiting either earlier or later. I've occasionally had to leave because all the indoor tables were taken, and the outdoor seating was either too hot or too cold for comfort. While they do place notes on the tables, I wish they would better enforce the policy of purchasing something to use the WiFi and tables. On crowded nights, I've noticed more outside food and drink items than those from the cafe itself. Implementing a WiFi password generator could help encourage purchases, although I understand this might not be popular with regulars.
Another point to consider is the presence of smokers and vapers. While they are generally kind and I've never had an issue, this might be a deal-breaker for some people. As long as you stay upwind, it shouldn't be a problem.
Overall, Sunset Cafe remains a fantastic spot, and I highly recommend it for anyone looking to enjoy a great atmosphere, excellent service, and...
Read moreSunset Coffee was introduced to me through my best friend, Vivian. It is located near a VASA fitness center and a few other smaller businesses. The outside of the building looks casual, nothing too eye-catching, but once you walk in, it gives off a relaxed, "cool" vibe. There is artwork on the walls and a huge chalkboard full of options. The tables are usually clean and there are no problems with the bathrooms. The baristas are very nice and friendly and one barista actually knew my usual order for a while because I used to go there all the time. The manager comes to greet me whenever I see him and stays to talk for a little bit.
The prices are around $4-$5 for a cup of coffee. Other than coffee, they serve Hot Chocolate and Italian Sodas. The drinks have always been tasty and I haven't ever had a problem with them. I usually go there to study, especially during the school year, but there are all types of people at the coffee shop. There are people who go there to chill, hang with friends, study, and/or finish work-related business. There are seats inside and outside the coffee house. Inside, there are more people who focus on their own thing, but outside, people are usually chilling, talking, or smoking. Sometimes there are dogs in the area, but usually they're outside.
The coffee shop is a little loud because of the coffee making and the talking, but I find it great background noise for studying or getting work done. I see acquaintances and friends there all the time from different parts of town and they enjoy coming here as well, so I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a local...
