Éclairs should be ashamed for charging so much given the quality of the desserts they put out. We got all types of pastries and all of them tasted of refrigerator. I didn't hold that against them at first. It's understandable at the end of the day that the stable cream topping would taste refrigerated. But it's on everything, the eclair, the tart, the Tres leches, the cheesecake. Still not the worst mistake.
But it just got worse. The creme pat in my tart was broken with egg globs and tasted of refrigerator itself. My sons cheesecake was wayyyyyyy to solid and I suspected it had too much gelatin. But it tasted of refrigerator so it must have just been dried out. The Eclair, their name sake, was the worst of all. The white topping was so dried out it popped off and was chewy. The shoe bredding was tasteless and very dry and the "key lime" filling tasted like it was just the same creme pat from my tart.
I don't know what parisian decor other reviews had mentioned because the walls were bare and the tables had no decor on them.
Our gal up front looked annoyed while waiting to see what my kids landed on ordering. I had mentioned it was our first time in, and thier first time having an eclair at all. Instead of giving insight into popular choices or enganging with us at all, she just sat there with the little gold pallet and tongs waiting for us to decide. Only once my son picked the creme Brule macron did she say "that's my favorite" as she literally walked away from us to the other side of the counter.
40 dollars and no one ate any of thier sweets. Go to the gourmet patisserie competition. This place...
Read moreI really wanted to like this place. But, I just can't. First of all... $5.50 per eclair? Someone is coppin' out either on the popular 'supply chain' issues... or really thinks those eclairs are THAT authentic (by the way - they're not). So, I thought I'd give it a shot, with the possibility that they were really good. Unfortunately, I was wrong. In any event... I totally REGRET pickin up 4 of em, for a family treat, after dinner. The "classic" was VERY bland... and the Nutella, Raspberry, & Key Lime... were ok, at best.
To add insult to injury, they tack on an extra 4%, just for for using a credit card (which apparently is on a tiny little sign next to the register - which I didn't see... and I'm sure TONS of other people don't see).... as if the $5.50 per eclair, isn't enough! And then of course, you get taxed on that higher amount to boot. I honestly can't remember, out of all the small businesses that I've visited over the years, ANYONE passing on the credit card company fees, to the customer! That should literally be one of the costs (to the business), of doing business! Hardly ANYONE, who visits and "upscale French patisserie" such as this... is going to be carrying cash... or is gonna whip out a debit card. It's almost always gonna be credit! And there's no way they aren't painfully aware of this, and don't exploit that.
Mr./Ms./Mrs. Businesses Owner that may/may not reply... don't bother. I can do without the rhetoric. You all are just shady... plain & simple. Sad state of affairs, @ the good ol...
Read moreI really enjoyed the space of this pastry/cafe. It was very cute inside. I didn't take any pictures of the inside unfortunately. But I did take some photos of my food.
There was only one person working in the whole place. There were a handful of customers who walked in during various times of my 3-hour visit to this cafe. Most came in for carryouts. Just a few stayed inside to dine. I loved the decor and how thoughtfully every piece was put together.
They didn't have a whole lot of desserts to choose from in their window during the time that we were there. Not sure if that is a daily thing or if it was just today. I ordered a mango eclair which was okay. The mango appeared to be dried as I imagine it would be hard to have a fresh and slippery mango on an eclair. The eclair was a little on the harder side, but it tasted okay. I also ordered a white chocolate latte. I appreciated the design the worker put into my latte. They do have a larger menu that they have hung on the wall. It looks like they also offer brunch, but I do not recall what time and day they offer it. I think they could also take real photos of their macrons instead of a graphic of their macrons as it was hard for me to tell which macrons were which in their display. Also would be helpful to just have the flavor labels right underneath the macrons to make it more clear what flavor choices were currently available.
The food was just okay, but I did like the atmosphere of the place. I would come back...
