George's Tavern — Restaurant in Sanford

Everyone reading my reviews knows that my giving a local "dive bar" a 5-STAR Google Review is like seeing Halley's comet twice in their lifetime... rare, but possible, right? BUT this bar deserves it! Rather, they earned a 5-STAR review I should say. Known forever as "The Local Bar" in Sanford, Florida, George's is where the locals would drink. Newly renovated and remodeled, plus under new management/ownership, I fell in love with the place from the moment I walked in their doors last week! The establishment satisfied all of my criteria for going to a tavern in Central Florida or the Metropolitan Orlando area: Smoking Pool Tables (MUST be decent room for playing and multiple tables) Clean and well maintained Affordable ( i. e. To look at this place from the outside, it might give one pause about stopping in for a drink. It looks like a hard core locals only place, but that didn't stop me from popping in for a drink. The drinks are very reasonably priced and plenteous. It's not the busiest place in the world. You won't find the most well-dressed patrons in the world, but you will get a nice welcome from the bartender and a decent drink. I've never brought my wife, it tends to be pretty men heavy. Heard a lot about this bar and have been in the area for a long time. Never had the opportunity to visit. Finally caught my eye as Carrie the bartender is always posting to come visit. I finally went, and I definitely enjoyed this bar. Check it out and see Carrie. She's a lot of fun and definitely the reason I've now visited anytime I get to step out.
