Hwy 55 Burgers Shakes & Fries — Restaurant in Sanford

Went in today a little after lunch time to pick up my husband and father in law some lunch , was greeted as soon as I walked in ordered my food and drinks (still haven’t paid yet) I ordered myself a large lemonade with light ice. When I realized the other drinks were not large I asked the young teenage girl (Matti, just checked my receipt) if I could get all my drinks large she proceeded to tell me that I only specified large on the lemonade (which was true) then I apologized and asked if the rest could be upgraded to Large also and she told me that she couldn’t because she had already poured them in the cups (medium) and she couldn’t just get me a Large I asked if they had any Large cups left and she said yes so I asked her if she could just pour the drinks into a Large cup (I’m gonna pay for it anyways) well her response was that she couldn’t because she couldn’t reuse the cups (obviously). (IF IM PAYING FOR IT PLEASE GIVE ME WHAT IM ASKING.) Eventually I asked to speak to a manager and she was hesitant about it so I asked to just speak to ANYONE else so when I did the other worker told Miss Matti to give me a Large drink well when I was gonna go to grab the pen from her to sign the receipt she (non aggressively) threw the pen on the counter I ignored her rude remark. After I got my food I kindly said “Thank you so much!” Which she just turned her back to me and left without asking if I needed anything else. This place can never get an order right. We have been 3 times. We don’t live in the area but my fiancé loves Highway 55. We have stopped twice before today. Each time I ordered the jalapeño cheesesteak with no onions. First time there were onions, second time there were extra onions. Today they just gave us the completely wrong sandwich. He got a regular cheesesteak, I got jalapeño. They gave us 2 regular. I can barely stomach onions & I hate the cheese on the regular one. I guess I’m going hungry & he’s eating 2 sandwiches. We have to stop somewhere else so I can eat something. Honestly when he wanted to stop here after the first 2 experiences, I didn’t want to. But, he was like, “what are the odds it would happen again?” Well, we’re 3 for 3 with wrong orders from this location. What’s the point of having a menu if these employees just give you whatever they feel like?

In addition to having the wrong sandwich yesterday, I was talking about it to my fiancé and he had also ordered a plain hot fog for our dog & 2 hot dogs “all the way.” They got the plain hot right, but he said that his hot dogs were completely different. So they messed up 2 things in the one order. I don’t know how a restaurant can consistently mess up so many things every single time. We live in Winston-Salem and were visiting family in Fayetteville. He used to like to stop sort of on the way back at this location. This is probably our last visit. The only mod we ever make is no onions on the jalapeño cheese steak so I don’t know why...

First time visiting here. We've seen HWY55 in our city but never stopped. As we were leaving Cary we wanted a smash burger & luckily this came up & we stopped & I'm so glad we did. The service and atmosphere were great. The place was clean. We & everyone after us were greeted enthusiastically by team members upon entering this location.

Our waitress (blonde, bob, white lady) was great! She was moving and helping everyone and was nice and helpful as it was our first time visiting. She was also very attentive.

I got a snickers shake, custom burger, and the half and half, which is half onion rings and half fries, fries were seasoned/cooked perfectly. I felt the half/half was a bit small for $3.69 it should be like a Large fry size, but I only got what was in the pic, but everything was good.

My burger was THE bomb. My husband said he'd like his cooked a little less but he didn't specify that to the waitress before and I'm sure if you can but just a note if you'd like your burger cooked a certain way... ask to see.

The prices are great. They have military discount and our meal was less than $30, including the tip.
