1 Oz Coffee is a new and clean cafe on the ground floor of a mixed used residential/commercial building. It faces away from the main street, so it is usually quiet but I’ve been there when workers with extremely loud leaf blowers are kicking up leaves and pollen nearby around noon. Otherwise a nice outdoor patio and large windows on the facade of the cafe that are opened up when the weather is warm.
They have a full service espresso bar and 2 to 3 roasts to choose from when you request a pour over. They use a Hario V60 to make the pour over, and it is a bit of a wait, but worth it. The pour over that I got had a nice earthiness that to it.
There is a small food menu that features different types of toast ala avocado, hummus, prosciutto and Boichik bagels with optional toppings such as lox smoked salmon and cream cheese.
All-in-all, 1 Oz is a nice option nearby Santa Clara University that has plenty of seating and solid selection of coffee. A nice place to study or have a quiet...
Read moreJuly 2025 update Came on a Sunday peak time (10am) and they have a line out the door. It moved pretty quickly and drinks and food came out at reasonable time. I tried their seasonal Kauai latte hot and it is unfortunately too sweet for me. We also got a hojicha latte unsweetened. Both drinks are still on the cold side, maybe their ceramic cup was not warm. Food: got strawberry croissant and avocado toast. The avocado toast was filling and flavorful. The strawberry croissant was okay - cream filling is aromatic and not too sweet; but the croissant part was a bit too soft.
March 2025 Located under the Benton Apartments, they have retail parking in the garage (entrance from Benton and El Camino El) I got a flat white and the beans they use is Ya blend from Soul Works. The coffee is on the earthy floral side, medium body. Although it was a bit colder than I'd prefer, it may have been a one off due to a morning rush. I appreciate they serve in ceramic cups and glassware for...
Read moreCame here for the first time and really enjoyed the atmosphere/vibe. I am definitely a fan of the open concept and with plenty of outdoor space it’s perfect for those who have pets and want to chill outside. The customer service was also so welcoming and social which we loved!
Parking: is street parking or you can honestly use the loading area for TG orders.
What we ordered:
Iced WM matcha latte: 5/5 the matcha was blended perfectly and I loved how they ask if you’d like it sweet or not. The taste was similar to matcha that I’ve had in Japan and that’s just so hard to find here.
Iced WM Ube latte: 5/5 if you’re looking for something a bit more sweet this one is it! It does not taste heavy or even ultra sweet like most Ube lattes but rather it has a nice smooth taste and texture. Definitely need to try this one next time with a shot of espresso. This one can also be adjusted in sweetness as well.
Will be coming back to try more drinks and pastries...
