I wish there was a way for me to break down the review that gave it justice. First the food, you guys have to find a way where you still retain some of the original dish you represent. I totally get that you're putting your twist on the dish but you can't take too many liberties. For example I had the chicken shawarma wrap and what I got was mostly a salad wrap with chicken and sweet vinaigrette dressing on it. Also not a lot of chicken in it too. I mean where is the taste of the sear in the chicken? Where is the chicken? All I tasted was the dressing. Shawarma is a very simple dish, you really can't screw it up but your version needs to be fixed.
I love the hustle of the guy busing the tables. I don't know if he's a co-owner but man, he went out of his way. However the boss behind the counter, he needs to temper himself down. I went to him and asked "Do you have napkins I can use?" He replied "Yes," and there was this awkward pause of like 6 seconds before he gave me some. He looked annoyed AF that I'm asking for napkins. In any restaurant, they would've give me napkins halfway before I finish my sentence, yet this guy appeared that he cannot be bothered for it or had the "you have to buy something before you get napkins vibe."
I get it. Napkins are expensive. Napkins are hurting the planet so we must reduce but Jesus, you know our toilet bowls have drinking water on them right? There's going to be waste in anything we do especially in the food service business but man, don't give a stink because I asked.
Which brings me to why I asked for napkins. Your steel cups are drenched in dish water. You guys have to fix that too because that's a feeding ground for bacteria and hepatitis. It's nasty to pull these cups and you have that water in there. Bad and no excuse.
You're getting 3 stars because of the hustle of that guy who went out of his way to accommodate. I hope he stays on to help fix...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI ordered the Thai chicken, subbed for brown rice, and added extra cucumbers. The peanut sauce was really tasty and flavorful; definitely has that peanut taste compared to other peanut sauces Iāve tried before. My portion was a decent size and I was getting full a little over half way through. To drink, I had the mango boba juice and it too was delicious and not overly sweet for me. However the boba wasnāt at the consistency that I prefer, but still not bad at all. Also the straw was made of, what seemed like, bamboo. Pretty neat because I cannot stand drinking with paper straws.
As for service and atmosphere, the place was clean/neat and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Although it seemed a little empty on the inside, majority of the customers had their meals on the patio (was a nice sunny day). To note, Jorge, assisted me with the ordering process and also did an excellent job following up with my meal. He was professional and easy to talk to.
Overall, Iām really happy with my visit and disappointed that I hadnāt come here sooner (I grew up in the neighborhood right behind Mercado for 15 years). It warms my heart to see places of my childhood still around whenever I visit my parents from...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI'm really thankful for one amazing Californian invention - the Burrito. It triggered the whole, let's deconstruct and put stuff in a wrap goldrush. But this has rarely been executed right. World Wrapps 2.0 is one of those rarities.
Situated right next to the AMC, it is hard to miss if you are headed there to catch a movie. But at the same time, you don't normally go by this spot unless you are going to a movie. I'm glad I happened to stop by.
Their menu is world fushion basically. From Bulgogi beef to Chicken Tikka to Vietnamese Summer rolls and Burritos of course, it's all there. And what can I say, they are all done just right. The Bulgogi in seaweed wrap felt like it may give away and go all soggy. Nope; that did not happen at all. The size is perfect and the weight of the roll is light enough so that it doesn't break the thin seaweed. Same goes for the other rolls. The Chicken Tikka was pretty good too.
The highlights for me were the Vietnamese style summer rolls, both the satay chicken and the shrimp. They are so darn good. Drop by this mall for this restaurant, and maybe catch a movie while you are at it. This is the...
