Last night, my family went to your DeVargas restaurant to take my niece to dinner for her birthday. I'd never been to your establishment before, but had been told it's exceptional. The food was great, but I have to say, the service was some of the worst I have ever had. Our waitress was named Tiff. Things started well enough, with Tiff moving us from a table that would seat maybe 5-6 to one that would actually accommodate our party of 8.
We then ordered - 3 BLTs, 3 cubanos, and a grilled cheese. When the food arrived, it was 2 BLTs and 4 cubanos instead. Tiff kept insisting the 4th cubano was actually a BLT. The guy who ordered the last BLT isn't picky and was just going to eat the cubano, saying he'd always wanted to try it. My niece, though, works in food service and thought we should tell the waitress about the mistake. When she did, Tiff proceeded to blame both my niece's bf and the kitchen. When we looked at the receipt later, she was the one who entered the order incorrectly.
We asked for "a lot" of ketchup, since all eight of us at the table had fries as sides. She came back with one plate holding 4 little ramekins of ketchup and asked if that was enough. We made it work. After she dropped off the food, she was too busy chatting with another table to even check on us. She was over there bs'ing for long enough that we had to bother a passing busboy to get drink refills.
My mom wanted to order a dessert for my niece since it was her birthday. I wanted to try one of the sundaes as well, but Tiff just walked off as soon as my mom ordered from her. She didn't even ask if any of the rest of us wanted dessert, just absconded without even picking up the dessert menu.
All in all, it felt like Tiff knew she was on auto-gratuity since we were a party of 8, and that she could give us minimum effort since she'd get tipped anyway. She definitely didn't do $50 worth of work.

Read moreOn the face of things, this looks like a place that should know their way around meat — the meat case, the menu full of meat dishes, and grills of various sorts behind the counter. That’s why it’s such a letdown when your hand-picked NY Strip comes out well done when you ordered medium. I’m further confused by the poorly cooked steak because I watched the kid at the grill pull that steak out two separate times and cut it wide open to check its doneness. Setting aside the fact that most people familiar with cooking professionally know how to use a thermometer, it’s just so strange that the cook took the entire mystery out of “is it pink inside?” by repeatedly cutting the steak open. So how did they get it SO wrong?
To make matters worse, that same cook—who was wearing blue rubber gloves—had to stand in at the register for an order or two. This meant handling money, cards, and interactions with people. This would be fine if new gloves were put on before going back to kitchen work, but it was sadly just not the case with this one. Back into the grill area they went, handling ingredients using the same hands with which they’d interacted with the public. I didn’t find that very appealing, but imagine if a local newspaper or OSHA had gotten a glimpse of those decisions instead.
I get the impression that the most un-messupable menu item is the burger. I didn’t try one, but if you order from here and must receive something the way you ordered it, maybe you’ll have luck with the burger variations. Unfortunately, that likely still wouldn’t cause you to turn a blind eye to the food handling missteps.
While the blackening seasoning and the seasoned fries all had a great flavor, I can’t in good conscience recommend...
Read moreIf you are looking for a cozy and satisfying meal, look no further than Dr. Field Good’s Kitchen. This restaurant offers a variety of dishes, from burgers and sandwiches to salads and soups, but the star of the show is their pork chop. This is not your average pork chop, but a large bone-in cut that is tender, juicy, and flavorful. The pork chop is served with a generous portion of spicy green chile stew, which has large chunks of pork and a rich and hearty broth. The stew is perfect for dipping the pork chop, possibly only better if they provided a warm tortilla. The pork chop also comes with mashed potatoes, broccoli, carrots, and Brussels sprouts, all cooked to perfection and seasoned well. The vegetables are fresh and crisp, and the mashed potatoes are creamy and smooth. The portion size is very generous, and you will definitely feel full and satisfied after finishing this dish.
The service at Dr. Field Good’s Kitchen is also excellent. The staff is friendly, attentive, and helpful. They are quick to refill your beverages, check on your satisfaction, and offer suggestions. They also accommodate special requests and dietary restrictions. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with a rustic and homey decor. The restaurant is clean and spacious, and the music is pleasant and relaxing.
Dr. Field Good’s Kitchen is a great place to enjoy a delicious and comforting meal, especially if you love pork and green chile. The prices are reasonable, the quality is high, and the service is outstanding. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who is looking for a feel-good...
