I want to first say being home grown in Santa Fe l have truly enjoyed eating at this establishment in the past not to be disappointed until today when taking a client of mine to eat there. The food tasted ok but not great. The breakfast portions received were extremely small for the price. We ordered a large breakfast burrito looking like it had been dieting before served.
The scrambled egg and bacon plate was dry and not very appealing to look at.lnconsistancy is the killer word for any eating establishment bad day or not. I have received fair sized portions in the past for the same things ordered. What's terrible is for the two of us to walk away still feeling hungry after spending nearly $40.00 is a understatement.
I don't care to play Russian Roulette with my money when going out to eat somewhere.. Especially a place you thought to be good and feel like you were jilted afterwards. Food is to be enjoyed and filling when eating out and shouldn't look like truck stop slop on a plate. I shouldn't have to say this but even Lotta Burger Burritos are better looking and tasting for even less than half the price we paid.
Sorry but l won't be returning to Los Amigos or taking anyone there anytime soon. Unfortunately their food is no longer any amigo of mine.Who knows it could have just been a bad day, bad luck on our part or a unhappy cook? That's all it takes to leave a bad taste in...
Read moreYep. Classic New Mexican, and really good at it.
I have zero reservations recommending Los Amigos. Great food, cozy, and some of the best service in town. We've always been treated very kindly there, and I can't recall ever being unhappy with a meal.
Standouts (for me) include the best ham steak in town, and carne adovada that is as good as any other eatery in Santa Fe. Rich red chile with tender, lean chunks of pork. Everyone does it differently, and the offering at Los Amigos is one not to miss.
My spouse also has her favorite: their chocolate cake. She's a bit... ahem... "picky" about that particular dessert, and she insists it's the best. I'll take her word for it; I'm more of a flan person myself.
Breakfasts, even though at some odd hours, are stellar. I can get actual soft-poached eggs. Not every place can pull that off consistently, and paired with some of their tasty potatoes and green chile, it's "New Mexican egg goo" heaven.
All the other fare is equally good, and I'm particularly fond of their club sandwich. Yeah, it's not really a New Mexican thing, but it's done very well.
Yep. Recommended. Great food, great people, and reasonable prices. Also a decent place to take out-of-town visitors to dip their toes into our cuisine. ...
Read moreI have eaten at this restaurant so many times in my life, as a generational Santa Fe local,I can say that the food is just ok, the prices are affordable. The restaurant is not very sanitary. It smells like mold and always has. The restrooms are always dirty, leaking sinks, unstocked bathroom, dirty mirrors. This is every time I go. If you're raised in Santa Fe you know that the choices to eat can be limited. But Ive had experiences where there are flies circling in the dining area. The menus never wiped down. The condiments are greasy and or sticky. Dust on the paintings. The last time I ate there with my husband, the cook, at the chefs pass window was blowing his nose with his black gloves on, and never changed gloves. Not only is that unsanitary, its cross contamination. I told the male manager/owner, he really unconcerned. Said he would talk to the cook. No apology. We paid the bill and left. Ive never had good service. I do see a lot of older generational locals eat there. I'm shocked that they have passed their...
