Bar Hana in downtown Sarasota is an absolute tropical oasis that has quickly become one of my favorite spots in the area. Here's why:

Ambiance: From the moment you step inside, you're transported to a lush, Polynesian paradise. The decor is stunning, with natural tones, rattan walls, and greenery hanging from the ceiling, creating an intimate and relaxing environment. It's the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of downtown.

Cocktails: The cocktail menu is a masterpiece of mixology, with drinks that are both visually stunning and delicious. From the Mainland Margarita to the creative takes on classic tiki drinks, each beverage is a work of art. The bartenders are not only skilled but also passionate about what they do, offering recommendations and sometimes even a little show in the making of your drink.

Food: While primarily a bar, the food at Bar Hana is not to be missed. The small plates are inventive, with dishes like the coconut habanero ceviche and Wagyu dumplings that elevate bar food to a new level. The flavors are bold, fresh, and perfectly complement the tropical cocktail offerings.

The place is aesthetically pleasing, very strong tiki vibes, which we adore. However, the music selection did not fit and the bass was up too much. This brings me to the noise level, it is a very loud space, we had to shout at each other; not very relaxing and tiki vibing.

The food is delicious, it’s Kojo and we love Kojo.

The drinks, had a bit too much ice. The group consensus was that they could have been better, but they also weren’t the worst they’ve had.

The experience, this is where we get down to brass tacks. We had reservations, but upon arrival they did not have any tables available due to a very large party that took half the bar’s table seating and had not wrapped up by ours and others reservation times.

We were seated in the lounge area, with a small circular coffee table and two wicker love seats, not really conducive to eating a full dinner. So we got drinks and some easy to eat snacks; credit to our server for being thoughtful on when to bring the food out considering the limited surface area we had for glasses, plates and food.

We waited two hours and still the large group hadn’t left. The manager apologized and comp’d the food we had ordered, which is why this is not an angry 1 star review. He saved Bar Hana and out of respect for him, we will give BH...

Disclaimer we did not order food so N/A We came to this bar for my birthday, we initially ordered the hippopotamus drink for two and it took at least half an hour to be brought to our table. Thankfully, the (guy) manager noticed and took care of expediting it & apologized for the delay. After that, ordering our next drink was extremely difficult as our waitress was checking on every table, but ours. Thankfully, the (guy) Manager took our order again and brought one of the two drinks we ordered. After that, we did not see him again until another woman walked in, and I explained that it was my birthday and that I have not received my drink to which she went and took care of it… after a while I finally received my order with no sort of apology for it taking so long. I understand how busy the place was but the lack of customer service to even offer WATER was very noticeable and made us feel not appreciated considering we are customer’s that ordered several drinks and were very excited to get to try this place.
