Food was good, but the experience was disappointing.
The food overall was great — credit to the chef for that. However, I’m giving 2 stars because of how the situation was handled.
I was given complimentary soup, took a sip, and gave some to my son before noticing a bug floating in it. I immediately let the waitress know, and while she did take the soup back and offered another, there was no apology or sense of concern. After that, I didn’t feel comfortable drinking my $8 smoothie (which I also wouldn’t recommend), and I could barely eat my meal — I just felt grossed out.
I stayed polite the whole time and quietly asked to pack my food and requested a discount due to the bug. I was told, “You didn’t even touch it,” — which wasn’t true — but more importantly, a bug in food is unsanitary no matter what.
What bothered me most wasn’t the bug, but the lack of empathy or professionalism. I wasn’t treated with care, and I could tell I was being gossiped about by staff — even if I didn’t understand the language, body language and tone say a lot.
They eventually removed the smoothie and gave me 10% off, which I appreciate, but the way the situation was handled left a bad taste in my mouth. None the less was visibly angry that I didn’t want to tip after such experience. Unfortunately, I won’t be returning. Do better by your customers and quit making them feel like an inconvenience, as soon as they walk...
Read moreMy family and I have been here numerous times throughout the years, and it is mostly the same experience each time. We get the teppanyaki/hibachi. The food is consistently delicious, the teppanyaki cooks are always funny and entertaining, but the servers are always ALWAYS so miserable!!!! Look, I don’t like my job either, but I at least smile and say my “thank you”s and “youre welcome”s, but NEVER expect to get that from the servers here. It also didn’t help that even though we were all together as one group, we split all our bills between 3-4 people. Yet we still got auto gratuity added on our bill. I would understand if auto gratuity was on one or two bills for the whole table of about 15 of us, but seriously!? Why are we getting auto gratuity when it’s just me, my sister, and her boyfriend???!! I am very generous (most places over 22%) when I tip people at every restaurant I go to, but honestly the cooks deserve most of the tips compared to the servers. I will tip the cooks often, and so will my multiple members of family, but those servers should only be getting 15%, and I’m a server myself. Auto gratuity 18% on a 3 person order is crazy all for them to just bring over our drinks, white rice if you ordered it, soups, and the bill. Not even a thank you from the server! At least the cooks will...
Read moreFood was ok, experience bad. Mainly because Our cook was not very, how should I say,...engaging or entertaining or motivated. I was visiting from California and My family of about 14 took me there for dinner. I'm looking around and the cooks behind me, and around the restaurant where a very creative, and engaging to their patrons. I mean fire was a blazing at every table but ours. The other Cooks were amaziamazing Cooks were talking to their consumers at their table... but only a few words came from our cook. We had 2 Cooks due to volume of of us seated... even the cook behind him was energetic, engaging, and creative... we were tilting our necks trying to watch him. I'm just saying our bill was not cheap. We go there for the tempanyaki experience! My half of the table was very disappointed 😞 to say the lease. Afterwards our cook packed up just as silent and unspired as he came and left. I did note my family was the only black family in the restaurant at the time,, I don't know what the issue was but hope it wasn't anything to do with some preconceived sentement or prejudice. Anyone will tell you I am not quick to play that card... Anyway we ended up still giving him a $20 tip...would've loved to give him more but I personally I don't think he...
