The Seafood Peddler is the most enticing, wonderful, mouthwatering, attention to detail experience we continue to have when choosing a restaurant in Sausalito, CA. Richard Mayfield, the GM/Owner has surrounded his establishment with a truly remarkable chef, Fidel and a wonderful attentive staff, with an always attentive, Manuel. Who will go out his way, if possible, to provide you with the ultimate experience one deserves when dining at this truly remarkable establishment.

The dinner options are extensive, everyone can find their favorites and be guaranteed that it will be delivered with poise and perfection. The appetizers and finally the desert, you must leave room for dessert which is sometimes not possible due to your need to enjoy every morsel of the appetizers and the main courses.

Now, I have mentioned the food and the staff, but I must also talk about the unforgettable ambiance that you experience when you arrive at Seafood Peddler. It is located at one of Sausalito’s Marinas and you do get a nautical vibe when you arrive but it is elegant and sedate in the second-floor dining area, you can also dine outside on the patio if you so wish the ocean breeze and the sunshine with you meal, our experiences thus far have been in the second-floor dining rooms, accessible by an elevator, if needed.

We have had intimate romantic dinners, large parties and multiple celebrations at the Seafood Peddler and every one of them was beyond expectation, every one of them was a cherished memory and created a longing to return.

I highly recommend that you make the Seafood Peddler restaurant a forever stop on your visits to Sausalito, CA and I need to also mention that everything can be ordered to go and not to forget, they have an extensive Fish Market so you can be your own chef when dining in your home.

Thank you, Richard, Manuel and Fidel, and staff, for all you continue to do to make us always feel at...

My husband and i had the most delicious food here! We took a beautiful ride to Sausalito where we had delicious lunch at the seafood Peddler I mean the waitress in the staff was excellent polite kind and courteous, the view from where we sat was breathtaking Crystal Blue Skies clear of clouds with the sun shining down on the bay with gleams over the waves as we looked on to San Francisco and the Bay Bridge.

I mean that's five stars already just in that sense but now let me get to the food we had drinks he had a bloody mary which was my first time tasting it and it was delicious. I had a peach Bellini which left me feeling Giddy and it was mixed perfectly not too fizzy and not too sweet of peach puree. We ordered to start two appetizers which were the Dozen Blue Point oysters which we had baked half a dozen BBQ half a dozen lemon garlic parmesan. Oh may I say what a treat that was we also had lobster bisque with that and a delicious fresh sourdough and I want to say a softer type of bread or roll with cheese baked on it and I mean when you dip it into that lobster bisque it was to die for. Now on to our main course he ordered the cod fish and shrimp tacos I had the Captain Morgan salmon fillet with Yukon Gold potatoes and spinach. While I did not get to taste his fish tacos the salmon I had was excellent grilled to perfection and seasoned very well. We couldn't even have dessert last but not least let me say that our waitress and I usually get waiters and waitresses names and I'm so sad that I didn't get hers because she was very sweet very cool new the menu inside and out and if she ever reads this lady because of your energy we will be back okay.

Five stars for an awesome lunch 5 stars for excellence staff quick superb food but made fresh and with care I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone in the Sausalito area...

I wanted to like it. I thought the food was good, but we got a bad taste in our mouth from the service. We were there when they opened, but we're told we couldn't sit at one of the many four tops by the window (still empty when we left), because we only had two in our party. Okay, fair enough. But then, they sat a party of two that also requested a four top by the window minutes after we sat down (still multiple tables were empty). Our server was pretty condescending and wouldn't make eye contact, as if we were a burden and he was rushing us. Multiple times we noticed his other tables were receiving more attention, water glasses being filled, polite conversation, checking in to see if anything was needed. It was strange, he would make the rounds to check on his tables and wouldn't come by ours. We either flagged him down or just made it work. It was noticeable that he was not giving us the same level of service.

My husband and I are a young traveling couple, so I guess he thought he didn't have to treat us with the same decency as some of the older patrons in the restaurant. I was close to getting the manager near the close (the server knew at the point I was heated and was trying to play nice as he dropped off our $80 lunch tab), but I didn't want to ruin the rest of our day with the negativity..honestly, wasn't sure if the manager shared the same attitude.

I would just say keep a closer eye on your waitstaff, because they're your first-line of...

This place has really gone downhill over the years. This used to be one of my favorite restaurants when I came to visit my grandparents in Marin. I went to SF for work and took the ferry to Sausalito and this was about a 5-10 minute walk from the ferry terminal so I thought I’d stop by. I noticed right away that it was dead at peak lunch hour, but perhaps that was just the one instance. I used to always come for dinner so maybe it’s still packed. The portions were so small, especially for the price, and the quality did not match. The gulf prawns were tough, rubbery, and overcooked; the crab cakes were super processed with minuscule pieces of crab with lots of filler, really can’t say I recommend this place anymore. The view is nice and the nostalgia is there for me, which is why it’s a 2 star as opposed to 1. I had this sampler plus a bowl of clam chowder, which came out to about $60 with just water to drink. I one to enjoy food in all shapes and sizes, regardless of price or ambiance. Think tacos/hot dogs from some guys truck at Home Depot to $700 3 Michelin starred tasting menus. My point is, this, given its taste and quality, was absolutely not worth it from any standpoint. You can get the same, if not, better view with a $6 ice cream cone from downtown Sausalito. Maybe I’ll return someday for their roasted Dungeness crab, which was my favorite as a kid, I’m hoping that hasn’t changed for the worse as this place has in general.

Waterside dining in Sausalito. Great location and view, very spacious and plenty of tables inside and outside. Well curated music and warm service. Tables were cleaned between each course and drinks filled promptly. The food was more of traditional seafood cuisine. Warm bread and butter were served. We ordered: 4*New England Clam Chowder is the signature dish. It was good, rich and creamy with clams chunks and potatoes. 3*The Peddler Shellfish Trio included 2 Blue Point Oysters, 2 cocktail prawns, Dungeness crabmeat: the crabmeat was very good, shrimps were good, and we didn’t care for the oysters. 4*Mixed Grill included grilled wild gulf prawns, Maryland style lump crab cakes & grilled fresh, Monterey baby calamari: interesting assortment of well cooked seafood, fresh and flavorful. 4*De Cecco Linguine Pescatore: included Maine lobster, littleneck clams, wild prawn, scallops, fresh Monterey baby calamari, and Alaskan cod. Cooked with fresh tomato sauce and extra virgin olive oil: the portion was big, seafood was tender and good. Flavor wasn’t strong, and I appreciate that the cook didn’t put that much salt in. It was traditional and good.

Well, I had high hopes for this restaurant because of all the great reviews, but I must say, I was disappointed. The employees were friendly but the service was slooooow. We waited almost 20 minutes between finishing our appetizer and receiving our entree. The appetizer was a joke. We got the seafood trio and it consisted of exactly 2 prawns, 2 tiny oysters and a small serving of crab meat, which equalled about a 1\8 cup and cost $28!!!... Are you serious?!! My husband had the clam chowder and he said it was flavorful, but the consistency was watery. He also had the salmon and vegetables. He said the salmon and the sauce was good, but the vegetables tasted like frozen vegies you would get from the grocery store. I had the fried prawns w/fries and cold slaw. The prawns were DEEP FRIED w/too much batter. My fries were over cooked and cold. The cold slaw just should've been called slaw. No flavor at all!! This restaurant seems to be terribly overrated because the prices do not match the quality of food. Sorry, but I wouldn't dine here again.
