Really nice Pad Thai. Maybe the best in Marin County. Curry was thin and watery....cheap canned coconut milk instead of coconut cream used. I am sure the other noodle dishes are outstanding, judging by how good the Pad Thai was.
However, this IS NOT a full service restaurant. You wait in line to talk through a plastic window to order. When we sat down the server came and plopped 4 plates on a stack in front of one person, with four forks on top of the top plate, and then quickly headed off. Not once did she ask if we would like something else or if we needed something.
Yet the server acted like we got 5star service when we got barely any....expecting an 18% tip when something more like 10% would be generous. Very sour face when less than 18% tip left...no smile, no thank you when paying.
My opinion is IF the wait staff wants an 18% tip....LOSE the plastic window, seat people properly, deliver menus, take orders at the table, and set the table properly as though the place is a real restaurant.
Lose the idea of "street food.". The "street food" name is a gimmick. This place isn't street food, and customers don't leave tips for street food, nor should they. If you want tips, behave like a real restaurant, and give real service.
This place is by no means bad, and I will definitely give it another...
Read moreThis place was at a very cute location and is in good proximity to the Golden Gate. My boyfriend and I love Thai food so we were pretty stoked to visit. The employees were super friendly. I ordered a ginger beer and he ordered a water. We got two appetizers which were yummy and the portions were huge. I would have ordered just one appetizer had I known. We each got an entree and again the portions are ginormous. My boyfriend liked what he ordered but I wasn’t super fond of mine. I think it’s because I recently started working with swine and the broth in my entree smelled entirely too similar to pig feed. So, I started off on the wrong foot. Neither of us finished our meals but again, we were pretty full from the appetizers. We did have to order the mango sticky rice dessert. Absolutely had to. Gun to our heads. And mmm mm mmm. Just as I imagined. It was delicious. So, for that I recommend the appetizers and the dessert. Next time I’d try Pad Thai but I wanted to be different and order something new. This time it didn’t pay off for me.
Cool place for a date or a small group of friends. Not a great spot for 5 or more people....
Read moreWe were so excited to stumble across this hidden restaurant while walking around the area. After reading the reviews that raved about this place we were all so excited. We ordered the chicken samosas, the egg rolls, and the vegetable spring rolls as appetizers. The food came out very quickly and looked very appetizing. The chicken samosas had no chicken in them; so we were very disappointed to try this. The rest of the appetizers were okay but nothing to write home about. For our main meal we ordered beef basil fried rice, and two vegetarian pad thais. The pad thai was not for consumption. All you could taste was fish sauce and no peanuts. We were so disappointed the waitress brought us out another order. The second order was also a gluttonous mess of pasta. The beef basil fried rice had no flavor. We were all so disappointed. The waitress took off one of the orders of pad thai, but it was not worth all the hype and the prices. There are plenty of places closer to the harbor front where the atmosphere and food is...
