Or maybe obnoxious loud people sitting next to you talking about how much they can drink and still drive a boat? If you answered “Yes” to any of these questions then The Hawthorn is not for you. In fact, please stay away. If, however, you enjoy a supremely crafted drink—or simply a generous pour—of an exceptional whiskey by a skilled and attentive bartender, then maybe the Hawthorn might be for you. If you like a good conversation with interesting neighbors or visitors that is actually possible because the music is simply background and not obscenely overpowering a normal human voice, then you might wish to check out the Hawthorn. If you wish to avoid paper banners advertising the latest way to guzzle cheap over-iced beer, or whiskey, or tequila so as to preclude tasting them then you might want to check out the Hawthorn. If you enjoy drinking a good whiskey in the company of only an attentive bartender while you consider the state of the world, or of sports, or of philosophy in general and not be otherwise annoyed, then the Hawthorn might be your place. loved this place. on a tuesday at 8p there was easy parking on mlk. the bar was filled when we walked in but someone at the bar offered to move down so we could sit at the bar. interiors are borderline gothic in a mahogany wood and stained glass kinda way. super friendly bartender. i wasn’t drinking but the patrons around me were raving bout the cocktails that were being poured by guest bartender bud green. they had marinated olives auspicious bakery pretzels - both of which we ordered and loved. great conversation with bar neighbors and a super chill Rhodesian Ridgeback who’s human companions were on the barstools next to us. we were there roughly 2hrs and it was steady / nearly to capacity the whole time. im sure weekends are a whole other kind of packed though. i hope so. more places like this that are locally owned, non chain type business with character and charm to...

Hawthorn is the new best bar in Savannah. If you are traveling from out of town this is off the beaten path but worth the visit. The locals love it, the tourists love it.
