I have been to Savannah for 3 short visits, and I have loved each visit. My visits were in the summer, spring and my last visit was recently in autumn. The first time I went with my husband, teenage son, preteen daughter, and my father-in-law. Having an older family member in our group meant not walking too much. Plus in the summer shade from the sun is needed. We did a hop on/off trolley tour and it was great. It gave us a great overview of the area, and the information provided in the tour was fantastic. My father-in-law loved it, as well as my kids. I would take another trolley tour, because you can only soak up so much info at any given time, and there is so much history there. We've also had dinner by the river, which was great not only for the view, but because during the summer there was a fireworks show every night. The weather was great for walking in the spring and autumn. The historic area is not too big, about 1 square mile, and walking it is very easy. On my last visit I completed a virtual 10K and decided to jog through all 22 town squares as well as Forsyth Park. My husband and I would run from one square to the other, then walk around briefly in the park. It made for a good, scenic interval workout. There is also a comic book store that my son enjoyed visiting while we were there. I have also visited a few tea and coffee shops, which were delightful. The area along the river is also a great place to stroll...

Having received helpful tips from the Savannah Visitors Center (sic) on a walking tour around the Historic District, my son & I strode off to see as much as possible. We were intrigued by the number of little parks (more like squares and originally 24 of them). They formed the basis of the original town planning by the founder, the Englishman, James Edward Oglethorpe. As we walked on we were struck by the many mature trees providing welcome shade, many of which were draped in that southern style, grey Spanish moss. By the way, it's not a moss, rather being an epiphytic flowering plant and it doesn't come from Spain. Oh well...

We were there on a late afternoon in May. There weren't too many people around. As we walked mainly through the little parks/squares we didn't really focus on the architecture which was our mistake. I appreciated the fact that there were many park benches to sit down on, rest and do some serious people watching.

In the Chippewa Square where there is an impressive bronze statue of the founder himself, the aforementioned James Edward Oglethorpe. And, in the same square, you can pretend to be Forrest Gump in the movie where, at the beginning, he captures a feather and eats a box of chocolates.

We really didn't have so much time to do a full reconnaissance of the place but we gained enough of an impression to say that we loved the place. You should come and see...

We enjoyed our visit to Savannah Georgia,we stayed @ an Airbnb, off of Map Street, eight of us in a four bedroom 2 bathrooms house and it worked out just fine,it was truly a remarkable experience,I just had a few minor concerns,we took in a Dinner Cruise, that Friday night 10/06/2023,the disability entrance was for w/Chairs and should have been used for people on canes and walkers also, the cruise could be shortened to an hour and a half,we just kept going back and forth down the river, food was excellent, service people were wonderful and delightful, great evening. Saturday morning 10/07/2023,we opted for a Trolley Ride, that also was wonderful, the Driver was really experienced in The History of Savannah Georgia, however the map issued was confusing,it had the sites and numbers all over the place, the parking was not disability friendly,we parked a block from the Trolley and was told we had to walk to the Trolley, the Trolley should be able to picked people up from the parking lots, especially for the disabled,A family member drove us to the Trolley,we got out there, they went back and parked the Car,then they turned back around and walked to the Trolley. Night life in Savannah Georgia, was interesting and fun, overall I can truly say, this will not be our last time visiting...
