TLDR: Waitress ignored me 3+ times with full eye contact with me and made me wait until just before the end of the show for 2 glasses of water when asked from the beginning.
I have to preface this review with this note, first: I hate to 1-star a place where I have previously had very decent service, but the experience I had tonight was so bad that I have to talk about it. Especially when it had everything to do with the venue and nothing to do with the show I came to see. I understand being understaffed, I understand being busy with a big crowd, this woman's behavior goes beyond that entirely.
The issue: wait staff. Specifically our waitress tonight. We ordered 2 appetizers, 2 sodas, 2 waters. We put emphasis on the waters because we were already pretty thirsty and dry mouthed when we finally got inside. Our entire section was served their food and drinks, we only receieved fries. Waiting waiting waiting, still no drinks for us. I flagged down our waitress, asked our waitress "could we just get 2 waters, I know you're busy with all the food orders, we're just thirsty!" She agrees, yet doesn't return with water at all. A long time later, most of our section receives their 2nd order of drinks from this waitress, I try to flag her down making full eye contact and motioning that I want to order something to remind her about the waters, but she blatantly walks passed me and ignores me. This happens again when she brings a 3rd round of drinks to the people next to us, fully ignores me and walks away. At this point, I am getting a bit upset at the situation. I have received fries, it's been 45 minutes, everyone in my section has gotten their orders and then some, and I haven't gotten water, yet, and I have been patient and understanding. I stop another server and tell him that I know I am not in his section, but could he please just grab me two cups of water, I would really appreciate it. Much more time goes by, no water arrives, everyone else is still being served more drinks and food. I try one more time and Step out into the isle to ask my waitress for the two waters, I am speaking to her, making eye contact, she walks passed me and ignores me. Finally, as soon as the main act comes out to do his set (this guy had 4 opening acts) we receive: an order of quesodillas from a server who was not our waitress. No drinks, no water. I ask this server if they could please get us two cups of water, they say absolutely, and I continue waiting. Half way through the main acts set we receive our sodas we ordered from our waitress. NO WATER. I ask yet again for the two waters, she assures me they are coming out on her next trip. We down the sodas because it's something wet vs the dry food. FINALLY, ALMOST AT THE END OF THE WHOLE SET, WE RECEIVE THE TWO WATERS! Awesome!
At the end when we are all being handed our bill, our waitress is making comments to multiple people about the tip amounts she received or didn't receive. "Really, only 15%?" Was one I heard clearly. She finally got to us, she stared at the options I chose, and of course, for being ignored through most of the night, the no tip option was selected. I said nothing and signed and hit accept payment, but she immediately yells "SIR! NO TIP? There isn't an automatic tip on the check! UGH!" And walks away with my copy of the receipt. Absolutely, no tip. 👌🏻
If this is how Improv Chicago trains/allows their employees to act, then they won't be seeing my business here any time soon. There are plenty of comedy clubs and theaters nearby that hold themselves and their staff higher than this.
● Food: 3/10 (but you come here for the comedy, lets be serious) ● Atmosphere: 8/10 ● Cleanliness: 8/10 ●...
Read moreAfter a very bad couple of weeks dealing serious medical situation with a family member, my husband surprised me with the idea of going to get my mind off things. I was looking forward to having a few drinks and good time. We arrived at about 6:40, picked up our tickets and head down stairs. The man told us if we are ha ing dinner go in now or you can go to the bar and wait. We went the bar got drinks. 7 came and we went down to the theater. At this point another couple behind us. They sat them directly next to us. We finished up our drinks in a few minutes. We decided we would get appetizer and a few more drinks. Then we wait for a waitress to come. They were going to all the tables around us, but not us. The couple next to us they were now eating an entree. And still we have no server. People are getting drink after drink, and food. It was 5, 10, 15, 20 minutes. A man sitting people was near by I yelled to get his attention. He came to the table. I told him we have never been served. I told him we want to order. He said oh she must be busy with a large group of disabled people. I said that is fine, then give our table to somebody else. He said, no just wait I will go get her. At that point I wish would just get me drink. So we wait.. 1 minute, 2 minute, 3 minute 4 minute, 5 minute 6 minute... 10minutes. So now I said forget this, I am going back to the bar. I will get my own drink. I go to the bar in the back of the theater, it is closed. I go to the bar out side, also unstaffed. I start venting to kind coat check person. Some other headphone person comes along and says he is in charge of all the seating etc. He asks where my table is, we walk back to the table. He says he will go get my server. So then we wait again. Ask my husband if anyone came while I was gone, no. Nobody ran over nor apologized. At least another 5 minutes and the service comes by askes if we need a drink. At this point we are on the second performer. I ask if she realize we have been waiting for well over a half hour. She says, well can I get you something.
Nobody really apologized. Nor did they seem to have the ability to solve the problem. The 1st person could have just reassigned the table.
I really enjoy the headliner Orny Adam. We have seen him before. But I doubt we will be back to this location. And the artichoke dip sucks. It is grainy and had 1...
