Einstein Bros. Bagels — Restaurant in Schaumburg Township

I have been a regular customer at this location for the past 5 years. But my last two visits have been very unpleasant. I was okay to understand that last but one was an offday and took it easy. But today's was even more unpleasant. There is a new counter clerk who takes orders. She is so rude. First she is not patient. Does not understand the circumstances. There was a sign at the bill pay counter, which reads, Get $5 more on a purchase of $25 gift card. I told her that I will first buy the card and then use it to pay for the current order. She says okay and then asked me to get a card I like. I took two cards thinking one for the 25 and one for the 5. She rudely asks me, " So you want two cards". I said, "No one for 25 and one for the free 5". She asks, "Then why did you bring two. ?". I said, " I don't know. I thought that's how it works". they got to understand, being a customer, I would no way know how it works. Then I put one back. Then she says,"29.45 plz. I reminded her, " As I earlier said, I would first pay for the gift card and then use it to pay for the order". Then she says, "You should have told me before placing the food order". I told her, " I saw the gift card offer near the billing counter. So how would I order that ahead of the food ?" And then she continued to be rudely questioning me not trying to understand the circumstances. And I didn't buy my food and walked out with utter disappointment to be greeted that way. She didn't care to offer me an apology. Instead said, go out there are more customers here". On the way back one another customer told me that he also had an unpleasant experience. I am missing that previous clerk who used to recognize me and greet me every day when I go. This new clerk/manager is an utter disappointment. I am not going there again. I will surely miss the bagels. But cannot put...

Einstein's is my favorite go to place bagels, and I've been to many throughout the country. This location in particular usually is well stocked with all their bagels and other goods. They typically have a welcoming staff, clean areas to eat (indoor and outdoor), and fairly low wait times for food. Other than everything bagels, I also really like their freshly made blackberry lemonade! I prefer to mix it up, drink it down a little and then add a bit of ice; tastes so good and is very refreshing! I have tried some of their seasonal bagel sandwiches, which I was surprised to have liked given the combination of ingredients. Plus, my pups also enjoy when I bring them home one of their doggie bagels.

I can only give 4 stars because there have been a few occasions when certain staff members weren't very friendly, although that is a rare occurrence. They have been out of stock of my favorite bagel (everything bagels) a few different times, but this seems to be a common theme at many Einstein's, even at fairly early times in the morning; maybe they could try to make more of their popular bagels to avoid this problem better. There have also been times when the napkins were placed so high I could not reach them, even on my toes (I am short, but not super short- 5'4"); I'm sure I wasn't the only person inconvenienced by the placement of them and it almost seemed unsanitary to try to reach over everything to attempt...
