LOOOOOOOOOVE THIS PLACE. I have friends that are professional chefs who tell me I am picky and I Love this place. IF THIS COVID NONSENSE CONTINUES AND SHUTS DOWN THE MALL, MOVE YOUR STORE OUTSIDE OF THE MALL, WE WILL SUPPORT YOU!!!
This place always has a great variety, even in their drinks. Lemon filled bismark with powdered expresso and sugar toping is incredible. The apple filled pocket with has a nice croissant-like texture and is coated in a cinnamon and sugar sprinkle is great. I personally love the apple and blue berry fritters too. I appreciate calling ahead and online ordering to ensure they are not out of what I love. I love cold brew coffee with a bit of oat milk and a single pump on classic syrup. If I could have a wedding brunch chartered with a donut buffet, this would be the place.
I laughed pretty hard when I saw some bad reviews people left saying that it was all sugar and "diabetes" and not at all "real food" so she will only come back for it to be a treat. Dear God, if there are HEALTHY donuts out there you can have as a MEAL, then let me know! People are ridiculous. It's a donut. It's supposed to be a sugary treat and in terms of what a donut SHOULD BE, Stan's is perfect. Slightly fried crisp outside, soft inside with wonderful air pockets in yeast varieties and moist density for the cake donuts. The icing is always even. I appreciate all the different donuts are separated with parchment to prevent one flavor rubbing off on another.
Sometimes I think about moving out of Chicago area because it's too cold, but when I think of all the things I'd miss Stan's is high...
Read moreMy, oh my!! I usually don't leave reviews at all but I just had to share. I went with my family about a day ago while visiting my older brother for a few days, and we all decided to come to Woodfield Mall to go shopping for school clothes. After an hour or two of walking around we decided to grab a quick bite to eat: Stopped by Auntie Annie's...the pretzels looked burnt so that was a no-go, slid on over to Cinnabon...the lemonade was too sour and donut holes too sugary(didn't want diabetes). Long story short, me and my family walked around the food court and decided to stop at Stan's donuts for something sweet, my day had been pretty long and stressful, not to mention I was starting to get a bit fed up over my older brother's pickiness over food choices to the point where I didn't want anything to eat for myself. We took a look at what they had in the display cases, and our eyes landed on one thing in particular that at the moment we didn't know was gonna be a gamechanger: The Cruffin. At first, I was skeptical about it until the lovely workers explained what it was, me and my mom decided to give it a try and it was THE ABSOLUTE BEST TOE-CURLING TREAT I'VE EVER HAD. We had to tell the workers how delicious it was. 10/10 service, treat, everything!! I need a Stan's Donuts in my city asap. Try those Cruffins, they're so spectacular you'll need 14 of...
Read moreMy eyes definitely loved what they saw. We picked 6 donuts, cold brew and two frozen hot chocolates. I was excited to bring the donuts home and dig in. Glazed: probably the best if I HAD to pick Boston Creme: okay. Unfortunately the filling was inconsistent. When sharing, especially with kids... you know equal parts is a life or death situation. Le Stan: Croissant donut. This had the opportunity to be a very good donut. But it tasted like it was a day old. Stale. And the layers came apart like an old donut. Nothing flaky about it. Vanilla Sprinkled glazed: Get your kids this one to have a sugar coma and take a nap soon after. Cake donut, glazed and then donut iced with sprinkles. Woah. I would have loved this donut 30 years ago. Today, I found myself to realize my age and "I can't enjoy the pretty and sugary things" thought came to mind. Maple long john: tastes like pancakes. If u like maple and someone buys you one. Enjoy. Glazed old fashioned: Again tasted old. Not fresh.
I'm critical with my donuts. And the bright lights and cool decor made me excited to try it.
