Golden Phoenix Chinese Restaurant — Restaurant in Schererville

Singapore noodles is my favorite Chinese dish. This is my 3rd order of them from Golden Phoenix. Order 1, I paid extra to have shrimp in the dish and it was missing. Dish was hot and flavored well. Thought it was just a fluke, so tried again a couple of mo the later. 2nd order was absolutely perfect, best I ever had. Today, 2 weeks later, I ordered for the 3rd time and it was a hot mess. Ordered for between 12:10 and 12:30, shows up at 11:45 so it got cold while I was waiting to take lunch. After warming it up in the microwave, I opened it to see that the chicken and shrimp I paid for were substandard. Instead of the usual small pieces of sautéed chicken, there were a couple of big, breaded, soggy chicken nuggets. Gross! Shrimp texture was also quite off - stringy and mushy. I had ordered medium spice and there was so much curry that the noodles were actually grainy from it! After a high delivery fee and a 25% tip, this dish was quite expensive and was supposed to be an occasional treat. Door Dash did not allow a review and could not assist me as restaurant staff made the delivery. I called the restaurant to request the dish be re-made and the young man who answered the phone hung up on me. Giving the benefit of the doubt that maybe the call disconnected, I called back and was hung up on a second time. I will not be ordering from this...

I was hung up on 3 times. Once after I had already talked to someone about my problem. My problem was my order was 30min later than the latest estimate of time. When I asked the manager if there was anything they could do for me, basically guaranteeing that I’d order from them again, I was given the run around about how busy they were and how their estimate of delivery was an hour to an hour and a half. As I’m looking at the email confirmation at 6:31pm, the estimate was 7:31pm-7:46pm when I called at 8:00pm and finally wasn’t hung up on they said it would be another 15 min. As I’m on the phone the manager and I hadn’t come to an agreement on how the order can be so late, she is already telling a employee in the background to stop my delivery. New to the area and trying all the Chinese Restaurants in the area to replace my go-to one where I used to live. Haven't found one yet that compares - there are not that many to choose from in Highland, Schereville, St. John or Cedar Lake. Ordered what I was familiar with back home - Sweet Sour Pork, Beef Kow, Pork Fried Rice (see photos). We had a 50/50 verdict - one person loved their Beef Kow and said the beef was tender & the vegetables were fresh & delicious & the gravy which seemed to have a little garlic in it was good. My Sweet Sour Pork didn't compare to my old place because the breading on it was too thick that it made it too soft (not as crispy). However the sauce did have fresh pineapple, tomatoes & green pepper in it which definitely is a plus compared to other placed in this area. The fried rice could have used a little seasoning IMO.
