Oberweis Ice Cream and Dairy Store — Restaurant in Schererville

The staff here has changed for the absolute worst. Spent $40 on 3 shakes and a kids soft serve in a cup. Was handed a scoop of ice cream and when telling them it’s supposed to be soft serve we were told it’s not that big of a difference as they reluctantly fixed it. Then overheard the girl confirming it was supposed to be 2 large shakes and the girl at the window said it’s fine just add extra whip cream to the cup. (For the price of the shakes that’s an absolute no) When handing the girl a 100 dollar bill she held it up and stared at it then asked for a manager who came up to confirm it was real - which it clearly was - but she still wanted is to use something smaller - again no. So the horrible attitude turned worse. Sat in the drive thru for 20 minutes only to be handed the container holding the ice cream finding out as soon as we turned out that the girl did not put the shakes in properly and every single one flipped out (except the soft serve) - we go to this establishment typically 3 times a month or more. Just heard oberweis might potentially closed…I cried, FYI. Oberweis has been a household staple since my childhood. It has ALWAYS been there for me, even if no one else was. Oberweis ALWAYS has chess for me to play with my dad. The smells ALWAYS make my day feel better (bc it literally smells like a dream inside). THE COW PICTURES MAKE MY DAY. Please, if you have any taste in QUALITY ice cream, come to oberweis. They cannot close. I will actually move out of NWI. These workers and this location WILL NOT let you down, because they haven’t let me down since like 2009. THEY DESERVE ALL THE BUSINESS IN THE WORLD #OBERWEISFOR2025!!!!!$!!!!!!!!

What a great place to visit!!! Discovered this recently wanting some good dairy after a visit to a meat market. At first I thought it was just an ice cream shop, but they had milk and butter and fridges of other items. Then we decided to get a scoop of ice cream for the road. The lady heard us mumbling about what I probably could/could not try and she pulled out a book that broke down better-than-general allergy information and shared the ingredients for the flavors I wanted to try to really be sure!! It was wonderful service and delicious ice cream (butter pecan and egg nog). Went back with holiday guests and different people, same outstanding service.
