Where do I begin…..I am so ashamed to say that I tried this place twice knowing that the first experience was absolutely horrible. I have lost out on over $120 and in this economy we cannot waste money.
I really want my money back! I am upset! Do you guys not taste your food before you serve it to the public? How can you have a business open selling food and know that your food doesn’t have any taste and feel good knowing the customers are not getting food that exceeds the expectations of Jamaican cuisine.
The first time I tried it was about two months ago and I think they said they had just open And the food had no taste then and when I tried it about a week ago, the food once again had no taste. visually the food looks appealing and like it’s gonna taste really good like authentic Jamaican cuisine, The smell of the food as you’re passing by also makes you so hungry and ready to eat, but I was wrong, my husband and my kids still wanted me to get up and make them dinner when I brought this home. They barely touched the plates. I watched money go directly into the trash.
The first time we had jerk chicken, which was really dried out and we also had curry chicken that had no flavor and I won’t even talk about the beef patties. No taste at all. I don’t even wanna talk about the rice the cabbage. I mean where can you go wrong, It’s cabbage, but I didn’t come for a vegetarian meal. I came for meat and for the authentic rice and peas.
The price point is also a major issue, now I’ll be honest we cannot argue with businesses about their price because we have two choices as consumers To pay or not to pay, and when I tell you, they will never receive another dime from me and I honestly would like my money back because I don’t know how you guys feel that you can open your restaurant first thing in the morning and your food taste like that.
We all work hard, and when we support a business we expected to be at a certain and this was not it. Everyone doesn’t need to be in the food business and if you’re going to be charging those types of prices, it better be exceptional every single time.
Everyone believes that you should give people second chances and that includes businesses, but when it’s to the point that your family‘s money is going down the drain when you have a restaurant open to sell people food and it taste like that you should shut down and never reopen again that’s my opinion on all of the money I wasted at this restaurant. Every time I drive by and I see that you guys are still open I am wondering, how is this...
Read moreI purchased an oxtail platter at the R&B Block Party and unfortunately, the experience was extremely disappointing. For $31 I was served five small oxtails, two plantains, cabbage, and a scoop of rice that was hard, dry, and lacked any seasoning or flavor. I was hoping for a comforting, flavorful Caribbean-style meal, but it fell far below expectations. The oxtails were just okay, not well-seasoned enough to justify the price and the portion size did not feel worth what I paid. My total for a platter and a drink was $41. The cabbage was bland and the plantains were the only thing on the plate that resembled what I was hoping for.
To make matters worse, I added a watermelon and ginger juice, which sounded refreshing, but it was honestly awful. The flavors didn’t blend well at all and it tasted like watered down syrup with a strong, artificial aftertaste. I couldn’t finish it.
I’m writing this review because I genuinely believe vendors should take pride in the quality and presentation of their food, especially when charging premium prices. Festival goers like myself are excited to support local businesses, but we also expect value, flavor, and care in what’s being served. Sadly, this meal missed the mark in every way. I left feeling disappointed, underwhelmed, and a bit frustrated. I threw the entire platter in the trash.
To the vendor: I truly hope you take this feedback into consideration. People are willing to pay for great food, but you’ve got to make it worth it. Quality...
Read moreAs a Panamanian woman who genuinely enjoys Caribbean food, I usually love supporting local Caribbean vendors especially at festivals because I know how much effort goes into these events. But when you’re charging a 4star price, quality and care should very much match. Unfortunately this meal missed the mark entirely. The jerk chicken had feathers still on it, the flavor was very flat, and nothing about the plate justified the $45 cost including a drink. It was so unappetizing that I ended up throwing it away.
I was extremely disappointed with this meal. So to reiterate my experienced I found feathers still on the jerk chicken which is absolutely unacceptable. Every piece of cut up meat barely had chicken. You could literally taste the old oil in the fried plantains and fried festival. The rice&pease was very dry and had no flavor (you could tell they didn’t add a scotch bonnet and thyme). The cabbage had no flavor. The aroma in the air is what brought my attention but it was far what I expected physically tasting it.
It’s also very important to clearly display your prices … it’s frustrating to wait in line for 50 minutes only to mysteriously find out how much it costs.
Overall it was a disgusting and disappointing experience. It was so unappetizing that I ended up throwing the full plate away and buying food from...
