My friend and I go to Dukes alot....we try to go on Mondays and Wednesday for their burger and salad special. The last time we went on Monday...they said that it was the last night of the $5 burger special and then it would go back to the regular special which was $6.99. We asked the server if the burger special was effective and he(Trevor) stated yes. We ordered our burgers and ice tea...my girlfriend asked for a refill and they said that would cost a dollar. So long story short..when I got the bill for two burgers and two ice teas with a refill ...the bill was almost $40. When I question the bill he stated that the burgers that we ordered was full price...when I asked why he did not tell me that when I asked...he said sorry about that ...its only the super burger...Nice to have known before we ordered. I asked to speak to the manager and he adjusted the price of one burger and when I asked why he said that the other burger was considered a sandwich. That to me made on sense as they had always treated it as regular burger. I asked to speak to the manager and he basically said too bad...I should have read the menu. The server should know his specials................NEEDLESS TO SAY ...I WILL NEVER TO BACK!!!!!!!!! HORRIBLE...
Read moreThis place actually has great potential to live up to its self-proclaimed title of "Scottsdale's best bar'. The biggest thing holding it back is the tyrannical ownership of Al McCarthy. With the same unapologetic arrogance of a drunk Donald Trump, he rules with an inebriated iron first, consistently using his bar to get loudly and aggressively drunk and assert his "power" over everyone around him. He has even been seen inciting violence on a plethora of occasions. Nobody's safe, people who have been loyal to the place for years will get screamed at and even barred from returning, just for being unlucky enough to be caught in alcoholic owners path at the wrong time. He then proceeds to drive home every day in spite of his intoxication. A deceitful sign that Al displays in front of the bar is an 'A' food safety rating. Hard to believe a food safety inspector could miss all the cockroaches in the kitchen, keep an eye out there's plenty that often roam there way out to the the bar as well. Over a decade of corruption is the only explanation for this display of dishonesty. Just about everything else about the place is good, one star for Al and his refusal to allow his bar to be brought into the...
Read moreI have been frequenting Dukes since 2011. Nestled up next to Vista Del Camino Park that is host to family events, joggers, bikers and most importantly its healthy Disc Golf crowd; its vast outdoor seating and back patio for smokers provides views and people watching ambiance.
Inside you will find a 'Old Pub' style interior blessed by massive modern televisions. The main stage is the bar thats raised from the rest of the seating and off to one side you will find a pool hall and shuffle board.
The service is generally good and the beer and liquor selection is appropriate with some craft beers and top shelf choices.
The food is consistently good. The menu selection has Dukes signature heart stoppers but also includes fit fare. The only complaint I may have is the prices sometimes seem high but for the size of their plates and location, I am more than willing to pay for it.
Since 2011, Dukes has provided me night life activities, respite from hot days, or casual brunches with family and friends. Oh, and if you are too drunk to drive, they have a free ride service to reasonably local...
