Ironwood American Kitchen at The Fairmont Scottsdale Princess — Restaurant in Scottsdale

Let me start by saying this review does not reflect the resort or our stay and this review is for the restaurant only.

We decided to eat at this restaurant while staying on property. It started out well with the hostess greeting us and sitting us right away. We were maybe only 6-8 tables in the whole place so it’s not like they were overwhelmed or couldn’t see a new table had been sat. We waited 10-15 minutes without anyone acknowledging us. Finally our server comes over and explains that she didn’t know this was her table, and apologized. We got our food and it was decent but definitely not worth the money for dinner. We chalked it up as a one time thing and went back the next morning for breakfast. The host greeted us quickly and sat right away. Our server this time came right over and got our drink order. But then every time she left it was for a minimum of 10 minutes each time. We ran out of water 3 times, our food was brought and she never checked on us until our food was almost done. I saw another waiter checking on his two tables than I saw ours. I’m not the type to complain as we can enjoy regular restaurants and don’t expect the world. But when we are paying $22 for a breakfast sandwich and staying at a high end resort I expect a little bit better customer service. Do yourself a favor and goto Chick-fil-A or Red Robin off property and you’ll get better food and service...

Sadly, the food was exceptional but was difficult to enjoy because the service was so poor. About 20 minutes after being seated, we were finally brought water by someone who was not a waiter, but who informed us that our waiter would be coming soon. After another 15 minutes the same man who wasn't a waiter returned to clean some tables at which point we informed him that we're very hungry and would like to place an order.

We ordered the warm bread appetizer along with the cauliflower one. We stated that we would like to start with that and then ordered our entrees. After about 35 to 40 minutes, all the food arrived at once and was delivered by someone else who also was not our waiter. After finishing our meal, I flagged down the waiter who had been ignoring us the whole time, to ask for to go boxes. They were delivered along with our check at which point we left no tip because we still had not been assigned or helped by our actual waiter.

The food was good but difficult to enjoy in such an uncomfortable setting.

The popcorn chicken was another hit: piping hot, perfectly crispy, and paired with golden French fries that matched it in crunch and heat. It’s the kind of plate that disappears fast, and for good reason.
